2023 SDGA Senior Best-Ball Championship

Terms of the Competition

ELIGIBILITY

This championship is open to teams consisting of two male amateur golfers who meet the following requirements:

  • Membership: Players must hold an active USGA/GHIN Handicap Index at a 2023 SDGA Member Club or be a member of the NYSGA eClub of Central NY (residence required in SDGA territory).

  • Age: Players must be at least 55 years old as of August 21, 2023

  • USGA Handicap Index: Entrants must have an active USGA Handicap Index issued through a licensed golf club of no more than 12.0.

 

FIELD SIZE AND WAIT LIST

The field is limited to the first 30 teams to apply. After the field limit is reached, teams will be placed on a wait list in order by their time of registration

 

ENTRIES, DEADLINE, AND REFUND POLICY

  • Entries: An entry must be submitted online with payment prior to the deadline. Late entries will not be accepted, regardless of reason.

  • Entry Fee: $240 per team. This includes two rounds of golf with carts, lunch after Tuesday's round, prizes and awards.

  • Deadline: Entries must be received prior to the deadline (12PM EST on Wednesday, August 16, 2023). Late entries will not be accepted, regardless of reason.

  • Refund Policy: The entry fee, less a $20 service fee, will be refunded if a team withdraws 24 hours prior to the start of the event.

 

FORMAT AND DIVISIONS

The format is 36 holes of best-ball (referred to as four-ball under the Rules of Golf). There is no cut. There are two divisions; Senior (55+) and Super Senior (65+). Play will be from approximately 6,200 yards (White Tees) for the Senior Division and 5,600 (Yellow Tees) for the Super Senior Division.

 

RULES

All play will be governed by the USGA Rules of Golf. Players will be provided a "Notice to Players" rules sheet containing local rules and conditions. The SDGA will have volunteer Rules Officials on the course to provide rulings and answer questions.

Monday, August 21 // Round 1 // Tee times start 9:30am - 12:10pm
Tuesday, August 22 // Round 2 // Tee times start 9:30am - 12:10pm. High scores first

 

TEE TIME REQUESTS
The SDGA will make every effort to accommodate tee time requests, which must be submitted no later than 12PM on Wednesday, August 16th (click here). Pairing requests will not be accepted.

 

GOLF CARTS

Carts are mandatory and included in the entry fee.

 

RANGE

Pay for balls in shop. 

 

AWARDS

Trophies will be awarded to the winners.

 

PRIZES

Gift certificates will be awarded to approximately the top-6 teams in the Senior division and the top-5 teams in the Super Senior division.

 

PLAYER LUNCH ON TUESDAY

Player's will receive a complimentary box lunch on Tuesday. You can pick it up at the turn or before you tee off depending on your tee time.

 

FOOD & BEVERAGE

The club's snack bar will be available.
