TERMS OF THE COMPETITION



ELIGIBILITY

This championship is open to male amateur golfers who meet the following requirements:

  • Membership: Players must hold an active USGA/GHIN Handicap Index at a 2023 SDGA Member Club or be a member of the NYSGA eClub of Central NY (residence required in SDGA territory).

  • Age: Players must be at least 14 years old as of June 23, 2023.

  • USGA Handicap Index: Players must have an active USGA Handicap Index, issued by their member club, of 8.4 or less.

 

FIELD SIZE

Update: The field has been expanded to include 96 players.

 

ENTRIES, DEADLINE, AND REFUND POLICY

  • Entries: An entry must be submitted online with payment prior to the deadline. Late entries will not be accepted, regardless of reason.

  • Entry Fee: $110. This includes all green fees, buffet lunch on Friday, prizes, and awards.

  • Deadline: Entries must be received prior to the deadline (12PM EST on Friday, June 16, 2023). Late entries will not be accepted, regardless of reason..

  • Refund Policy: The entry fee, less a $20 service fee, will be refunded if a player withdraws 24 hours prior to the start of the event.

 

FORMAT

The format is 54 holes at stroke play, with a  cut after 18 holes (low 50 players and ties) and after 36 holes (low 32 players and ties).  Play will be from the Black Tees.

 

RANKINGS

The 2023 SDGA Gerry Ashe Memorial is a World Amateur Golf Ranking ranked event.

 

RULES

All play will be governed by the USGA Rules of Golf. Players will be provided a "Notice to Players" rules sheet containing local rules and conditions. The SDGA will have volunteer Rules Officials on the course to provide rulings and answer questions.

 

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

Friday, June 23 // Round 1 // Tee times begin at 7:30am to 12:30pm, 9 minute intervals
Saturday, June 24 // Round 2 // Tee times begin at 11:00am to 1:30pm
Sunday, June 25 // Round 3 // Tee times begin at 11:00am to 12:45pm
 
*Round 2 and 3 tee times/pairings are based off score (highest start first)

 

TEE TIME REQUESTS
The SDGA will make every effort to accommodate tee time requests, which must be submitted no later than 12PM on Friday, June 16th (
click here). Pairing requests will not be accepted.

 

FIRST ROUND TEE TIMES AND PAIRINGS

The first round pairings will be available on Tuesday, June 20th and will be emailed to all players. If you have a first-round tee time request (early vs late), please indicate in the appropriate field during registration, which also may be edited after you submit your entry (see confirmation email). Pairing requests will not be accommodated.

 

PLAYER LUNCH ON FRIDAY

A complimentary lunch will be served in the clubhouse following play on Friday, June 23rd. Lunch will include: beef on weck, mac salad, chips, cookies, iced tea/lemonade. Food will be available from 11:30-3:00, and can be picked up before or after round. 

 

FOOD & BEVERAGE

The club's snack bar will be open- accepts cash or credit. There are no water coolers on the course.

 

GOLF CARTS

The golf cart rental fee is $20 per player, payable in the pro shop.

 

RANGE

Included with entry.

 

AWARDS

Trophies will be awarded to the winner.

 

PRIZES

Gift certificates to the host club pro shop will be awarded to approximately 25% of the field.
