Tournament terms

 

  • A competitor must be an amateur as defined by the current Rules of Amateur Status.
  • The Championship shall comprise of 72 holes of stroke play, which will be played in accordance with the Rules of Golf as approved by R&A Rules Ltd and with the Local Rules approved by the Organising Committee.
  • Entry will be limited to 144 competitors who will play 18 holes on the New Course on Friday 9 June and Saturday 10 June. The 40 lowest scores over these 36 holes, and any tying for 40th place, will qualify for the final 36 holes to be played over the Old Course on Sunday 11 June. The remainder will be eliminated.
  • In the event of a tie after four rounds, the winner will be decided by a sudden death play-off over holes 1 and 18. Ties for other places (including the Ian Forbes Trophy) will be decided on the lowest score for the last 18 holes or the last 9 or 6 or 3 or 1 hole. In the event of there still being a tie, the scores on the first 9 or 6 or 3 or 1 hole will be considered. Subsequently, if still tied, a hole-by-hole match play summary should be used. If still tied, the scores for the 3rd round will be treated in the same way until a decision is reached.
  • Clubs and Balls:  The Model Local Rules in the Rules of Golf are in effect regarding Conforming Driver Heads, Conforming Golf Balls and Groove and Punch Marks.  
  • Pace of Play: Conditions will be distributed at Registration.
  • Anti-Doping: A competitor must not knowingly make use of any drug to enhance his performance. A competitor must, if requested, submit to a random drug test. Failure to do so may result in disqualification.
  • Transportation: During a round, a player or caddie must not ride on any form of motorised transportation except as authorised or later approved by the Committee.  
  • The Committee reserves the right to disqualify any competitor making a false statement on his entry form or to refuse or reject any entry without giving reason for its decision.
  • The Competitor shall start at the time laid down by the Committee.
  • The Committee reserves the right to fix and/or alter starting times and to alter or amend any of the conditions.
  • The Committee’s decision in all disputes is final.
