The Palmetto Cup Matches were established in 1982, putting the best amateur golfers in South Carolina against the top professionals of the Carolinas Section of the PGA.  Filling the amateurs team roster are a number of the state’s best golfers.  These players compete in both state and national events throughout the year and are chosen based on the SC Golf Association Player-of-the-Year Points.  Likewise, the two senior competitors are chosen from the Senior Rankings of the SCGA. The roster for the SC PGA team is put together in similar fashion.
