As a member of BCMGC, you receive membership privileges to receive a USGA (GHIN) handicap index that can be used to calculate a course handicap at any course.
With the new World Handicap System, there is an added component to the course handicap calculation that impacts the handicap used. In addition to the traditional course slope calculation, there is an adjustment associated with the difference between the course tee rating and par for the course. The complete calculation looks like this: ((Handicap Index x (Slope / 113)) + (Course Rating - Par).
Please note that the course handicap you play with will vary based on the tees that you play from. The Bear Creek Golf Complex - Bear Course Slope & Ratings based on Arizona Golf Association website Course Details webpage are as follows:
Tees | Slope | Course Rating | Par | Yards |
---|---|---|---|---|
Gold | 120 | 71.3 | 71 | 6825 |
Blue | 114 | 69.2 | 71 | 6418 |
White | 109 | 67.0 | 71 | 5978 |
Red/White | 101 | 64.5 | 71 | 5469 |
Example:
A player's Handicap Index is 10.2 and plays from the White tees on the Bear Creek Golf Complex - Bear Course.
Step1
- Adjust Slope
- 109/113 = 0.9646
Step 2
- Adjust Handicap Index using adjusted Slope (Step 1)
- 10.2 x 0.9646 = 9.8389
Step 3
- Adjust Course Par
- 67.0 - 71 = -4.0
Step 4
- Calculate Course Handicap by adding adjusted Handicap Index (Step 2) and the adjusted Course Par (Step 3)
- 9.8389 + (-4.0) = 5.8389
So, after rounding, the player's Course Handicap would be 6 from the White tees on the Bear Creek Golf Complex - Bear Course.
