Pace of Play Information

 

 

 

 

• At each VGA Championship & Qualifier, a time par will be established by the committee, and will be distributed to players. The total time par for the round will be printed on the Notice to Players and the time a hole must be completed by the group will be printed on each scorecard.

 

• Players in a group that is BOTH over their allotted time, as well as out of position (see definition of out of position below) are subject to being timed individually.

 

• If a group is to be monitored, a player should play a stroke within 40 seconds from the time he or she can make a stroke without interference or distraction (additional 10 seconds given to the first player to play from the tee).

 

• Any following group will be considered out of position if it completes play of a hole later than the maximum allowable time given and:
  • Reaches a par-3 that is clear of play and all players in the group ahead have played form the teeing area of the next hole.
  • Reaches a par-4 that becomes clear of play before any player plays a stroke from the teeing area.
  • Reaches a par-5 after any player in the group ahead has made a stroke on the putting green

 

• If a group meets all of the requirements of being timed, and a player in a group being timed takes more than 40 seconds from the time he or she can make a stroke without interference or distraction, the following penalties shall be applied:
  • One bad timing exceeding the allotted time – Friendly Reminder
  • A second bad timing – Warning
  • A third bad timing – 1 Stroke Penalty
  • A fourth bad timing – Additional 2 stroke penalty
  • A fifth bad timing – Disqualification
