QUALIFYING PORTAL: Follow the link for pairings, live scoring, results and player information. You can also access the qualifying portal by using the Golf Genius app on your mobile device. To access the page, login using the GGID: USGIRLS-PO23
QUALIFYING YARDAGE: 6,115 yards, par-72. Course yardage is subject to change based on weather/course conditions.
FORMAT/QUALIFYING PLACES: Stroke play competition conducted over 18 holes. The field of 30 players will compete for two (2) qualifying places and two (2) alternate positions in to the U.S. Girls’ Junior Championship to be played July 17 – 22, 2023 at the United State Air Force Academy Eisenhower Golf Club (Blue Course) in Colorado Springs, CO.
PRACTICE ROUND AVAILABILITY: Players may play one hosted practice round. Hosted practice rounds will be available on Tuesday, May 30 for out of town contestants. Local contestants can play a practice round on a space available basis in the week prior at the discretion of the golf shop. Contestants must call the McCormick Woods Golf Club golf shop at (360) 895-0130 to make arrangements. All practice round times are at the discretion of the golf shop staff.
STARTING TIMES: Available on the Washington Golf website (wagolf.org) and on the qualifying portal. Starting times will be from 7:30 a.m. – 11:23 a.m. off the #1 tee.
RESULTS/LIVE SCORING: Live scoring will be available during the qualifying after holes #4, #9, #13, and #18.
PLAYOFF: In the event of a tie for the last qualifying place or for the order of alternates, there will be a hole-by-hole playoff to determine the final qualifiers and the 1st and 2nd alternates if necessary. All announcements regarding the play-off and start time will be made via text message and email.
GOLF SHOP: Open at 6:30 a.m.
LOCKER ROOM: McCormick Woods Golf Club does not have a locker room. Restrooms are available inside the clubhouse.
PRACTICE FACILITIES/RANGE BALLS: The Driving Range will be open at 6:30 a.m. with hosted range balls.
FOOD SERVICE: The turn stand coffee shop will be available beginning at 7:00 a.m. with grab and go items along with snack and drinks. The clubhouse restaurant will open for lunch service beginning at 12:00 p.m.
BOTTLED WATER: Bottled water will be provided on the first tee and at numerous locations on the golf course for players and caddies.
METHODS OF PAYMENT ACCEPTED: All major credit cards and cash.
CADDIES: Rule 10.3a is modified in this way: A player must not have a parent, step parent or guardian as her caddie during the round. Penalty for Breach of Local Rule: The player gets the general penalty for each hole during which she is helped by such a caddie. If the breach happens or continues between two holes, the player gets the general penalty for the next hole.
PULL CARTS: Pull carts are permitted. Limited course pull carts are available to rent for $8. Players may provide their own pull cart.
CARTS: Players must not ride on any form of transportation during a stipulated round unless authorized by the Committee. Spectator carts are not permitted.
FOOTWEAR: Rule 4.3 is modified in this way: During a round, a player must not wear shoes with traditionally-designed spikes (regardless of composition, i.e., ceramic, plastic, etc.) or spikes, of any design, comprised either entirely or partially of metal (if such metal may come in contact with the course). Penalty for breach of this Local Rule: See Rule 4.3.
DRIVERS/GOLF BALLS: The Local Rule for Conforming Driver Heads is in effect, See Model Local Rule G-1. The Local Rule requiring that all golf balls used be on the List of Conforming Golf Balls is in effect. See Model Local Rule G-3. Please check the USGA website, www.usga.org, for a list of approved golf balls and drivers.
GROOVES: The players clubs must conform to the grooves and punch mark specifications in The Rules of Golf that are effective from January 1, 2010. See Model Local Rule G-2. UNDERSTANDING THE GROOVES LOCAL RULE
DMDS: The use of distance-measuring devices (DMD) to measure distance only (Rule 4.3) is permitted. UNDERSTANDING THE RULES OF DMDs
PACE OF PLAY: It is a condition that players must play without undue delay and in accordance with guidelines established by the Committee. PACE OF PLAY GUIDELINES
EVACUATION PLAN: In the event of a discontinuance of play during the qualifier, players must adhere to the evacuation plan distributed by the Committee. The evacuation plan will be emailed to players the day prior to the qualifier and will available on the starting tee.
CODE OF CONDUCT: As set forth in the USGA application, the code of conduct applies to all USGA Qualifying and Championships.
PERSONAL APPEARANCE: Players must be neat in appearance with respect to personal grooming and clothing.
AWARD CEREMONY: A Silver Medal will be awarded to the lowest scorer.
