98th Father & Son Championship and Tenth Parent & Child Net Championship

This notice serves as confirmation for 98th West Penn Father & Son Championship and Tenth Parent Child Net Championship on Monday, August 1 at Connoquenessing Country Club in Ellwood City, PA.
Format—18 Holes of Stroke Play, Chapman Format. Play is governed by the USGA Rules of Golf. In the event of a tie for first place a playoff will take place on holes to be determined by the Committee as soon as practical. The Father & Son Championship will be playing for the gross prize only. The Parent & Child Championship will be playing for the net prize only. There will be a shotgun start at 9:00 AM for both divisions.
Tee Markers— All play for the Father & Son Championship is from the BLUE WPGA tee markers, which will play at roughly 6,300 yards. All play for the Parent & Child Net Championship will be from the WHITE WPGA tee markers, which will play at roughly 5,800 yards.
CHAPMAN OR PINEHURST STROKE PLAY
In Chapman or Pinehurst stroke play, two players play as partners, each playing from the teeing ground and each playing his partner’s ball for the second shot. After the second shot, partners select the ball with which they wish to score, and play that ball alternately to complete the hole.
Practice: Practice rounds can be scheduled by contacting the golf shop at 724-752-2294. The PGA Golf Professional is Dave Yokitis. Practice rounds are available at the discretion of the golf shop. Practice round fees are the responsibility of the player. Practice rounds will be at a cost of $50 on weekdays and $60 on weekends.
Transportation/Caddies: Automotive transportation is permitted for the competition and included in the entry fee. Players may bring their own caddies if they choose. Caddies must walk in performance of their duties.
Lodging: Lodging of various price ranges can be found in the Ellwood City, PA area. You may also create an account with Affinity Travel Benefits here and find lodging to close to the tournament site on the Association Tournaments tab.
Food: The WPGA provides water on course, coffee & juices prior to the competition and lunch will be provided after the competition. All other food and beverage charges are the responsibility of the player.
Footwear: METAL CLEATS ARE PROHIBITED. THE PENALTY IS DISQUALIFICATION.
Pace of Play: The maximum allowable time will be four hours and twenty-five minutes (4:25). The Pace of Play Policy can be found HERE.
Spectator Info: No spectator carts will be permitted for the competition without pre-approved ADA verification. Please contact the WPGA office for ADA guidelines. ADA carts are based on availability. Spectators may purchase lunches at their own expense. Directions to the club can be found on the Connoquenessing Country Club website.
