23rd Connecticut Women's Open

ELIGIBILITY: In addition to a player's agreement to abide by the CSGA General Tournament Policies, the following criteria is required:

 

Female Professional and Amateur Golfers:

  • Amateur golfers must have an active USGA Handicap Index not exceeding 15.0
  • Senior players must be 50 years of age as of June 6, 2022.

ENTRY FEES:

 

  • Amateur Entry Fee - $150 

 

  • Professional Entry Fee - $250

 

  • Senior Division Amateur Entry Fee - $200 (OPTION to compete in the CWO Championship and a Sr. Division. Low finishers will be eligible for additional merchandise credit in the Sr. Division.)

 

  • Senior Division Professional Entry Fee - $300 (OPTION to compete in the CWO Championship and a Sr. Division. Low finishers will be eligible for additional purse money in the Sr. Division.) 

 

 


CHAMPIONSHIP PROPER INFORMATION:

 

Format: All players will play 18-holes of stroke play on both Monday, June 6th and Tuesday, June 7th.  Round two pairings will be based on round one scores.  The players with the low 36-hole total will be declared the Conn. Women's Open Champion and the Conn. Women's Open Senior Division Champion.


Transportation & Caddies: Players may walk, carry their own bag, utilize a caddie, a push cart or a golf cart for this Championship.

 

  • The cost of a golf cart is $25.00 and is not included in the entry fee. 
  • Players will pay for a cart the morning of the event in the Pro Shop, cash or credit card.  
  • Players must have a valid driver's license to drive the golf cart. Caddies may ride in a golf cart to drive the cart for a minor.
  • Caddies may ride in a golf cart to drive the cart for a non-minor player if there are sufficient carts, and a vacant seat is available in the pairing.
  • Players will be asked to pair up in golf carts as there is a two cart maximum per group.
  • Push carts are available for rent at $10.00 /round.
  • There is no caddie program at Hop Meadow Country Club. If you are interested in hiring a youth member from the club to carry your bag, please communicate that to the Pro Shop when you schedule a practice round.

Purse & Prizes: The Conn. Women's Open Champion will have her name permanently engraved on the Valerie Bulkeley Trophy.  The Championship and Senior Division champions and low amateur finishers will receive keepsake trophies. The size and composition of the final field will determine the full professional purse and amateur merchandise credit prize distribution for the Championship and Senior Division.


Practice Round: Practice rounds will be available to local players on an individual basis and out-of-town players will have a practice round on Sunday, June 5th after 2:00pm. Tournament yardage will most closely correlate to the yardage played from the gold tees at appoximately 5750 yards. To arrange a practice round, please call PGA Director of Golf, Joe Cordani at 860-651-0686 to schedule.  The clubhouse will be open for dining following your round on Sunday the 5th - please make a reservation if you intend to dine at the club that evening when you phone to schedule your practice round.


Food & Beverage: A luncheon buffet will be available to the players on both days and is included in your entry fee. Coffee will be available in the morning. Spectators and caddies are welcome to purchase lunch, cash or check only, no credit cards.


Accommodations: Room blocks are reserved at two hotels, from now until May 20th, first come first served. We anticipate there will also be a limited amount of housing arrangements available with host club members. Withdrawals & Refunds: Refund less $25.00 administrative fee if requested prior to entry deadline. 50% refund after entry deadline and seven days prior to the event. Within seven days prior to the event there will be no refund. 

 

All players are expected to complete the competition which they start.  Acceptable reasons for withdrawal during a competition are physical injury, illness, or an emergency.  Poor play is not an acceptable reason for withdrawal.  A player who withdraws without an acceptable reason or without notifying CSGA personnel will be subject to suspension from future CSGA competitions.  If a player is aware of a possibility of withdrawal (e.g. injury) he should notify the CSGA as soon as possible.

All players who start a round must return a scorecard personally to CSGA staff or a CSGA official even if they are officially withdrawing. Players who withdraw also must sign and attest that the hole by hole scores are correct for the fellow-competitor's scorecard they were keeping and return that card to the fellow-competitor or another marker in the group. Players who do not follow this policy will be subject to suspension from future CSGA competitions.


Conditions of Entry: By submitting an entry for any CSGA-administered competition, the contestant understands that their participation is at the sole discretion of the CSGA. A contestant may be removed from any competition at the discretion of the CSGA staff or Competitions Committee at any time before or during the competition. Incidents of unbecoming conduct or actions deemed to be detrimental to the image of the CSGA or the “Spirit of the Game” are grounds for such removal and suspension from future CSGA-administered competitions. These include, but are not limited to the following: 

1) Willful damage of the golf course or golf course property 
2) Club throwing or unnecessary club tossing 
3) Offensive or unbecoming language 
4) Public criticism of golf course or verbal abuse of CSGA staff, officials, volunteers, host club staff or other contestants 
5) Potential endangerment of others 
6) Conduct deemed unbecoming
