VSGA Amateur Championship/State Open of Virginia Qualifying
ELIGIBILITY
Open to VSGA members of all ages. Participants must hold an active GHIN number issued by a licensed VSGA Member Club in good standing and meet the USGA Rules of Amateur Status. For additional information see the VSGA Championship and Tournament Eligibility Guidelines.
ENTRY FEES/DEADLINES
Qualifying
Players competing in one of the first 10 qualifiers (may only enter one) are required to submit an entry form with the proper entry fee by Monday, May 23, 2022. Entry fees are as follows:
Amateur Championship Qualifying Only - $105
State Open Qualifying Only - $105
Both Qualifiers - $175
Continued for 2022 – The mandatory course fee, previously paid by each player directly to the host club, is included in the qualifying entry fee.
$75 of the qualifying fees will be applied to the championship entry fees for successful qualifiers (see below for championship balances).
Last Chance Qualifier
Players competing in the Last Chance Qualifier are required to register online by 3:00 pm Friday, June 17, 2022. The entry fee of $125 includes the course fee at the qualifier and $75 of the qualifying fee is applied to the championship entry fee for successful qualifiers. The VSGA will also negotiate a discounted practice round fee with the host club.
Successful Qualifiers
Amateur Championship – Those who successfully qualify for the Amateur Championship are required to pay the entry balance of $185 by June 17, 2022 which includes all course fees (including cart) for all rounds of competition. In addition, the VSGA will negotiate a discounted practice round fee with the host club.
State Open of Virginia – Those who successfully qualify are required to pay the entry balance of $100 by July 8, 2022 which includes all course fees (including cart) for all rounds of competition. In addition, the VSGA will negotiate a discounted practice round fee with the host club.
FORMAT
Qualifying
All non-exempt players must qualify to play in each championship. The total number of participants at each qualifier will vary by site and will be filled by lowest Handicap Index as of May 23, 2022. The number of qualifying spots available at each qualifier will be determined based on participation and will be announced on-site.
VSGA Amateur Championship Information
June 27-July 1 at Cedar Point Club (Suffolk)
FORMAT
120 players (includes all qualifiers and exempt players)
June 27-28 – Stroke play qualifying (18 holes per day); the low 32 players advance to match play
June 29 – Rounds One and Two of match play
June 30 – Quarterfinal and Semifinal matches
July 1 – 36-hole match play final

State Open of Virginia Information
July 15-17 at Independence Golf Club (Midlothian)
FORMAT
144 players (69 eligible Professionals, 69 eligible Amateurs, the defending champion, and 5 open qualifier spots). 54-hole stroke play event with the field cut to the low 60 players and ties after 36 holes.
