RDGA HEALTH & SAFETY GUIDANCE for 2022: The RDGA is continuing to promote a safe and healthy environment at each of our tournaments, reminding all golfers to take the necessary precautions and not play if showing any symptoms or if previously exposed to COVID-19 within the prior 7 days. We also recommend following the most up-to-date COVID-19 guidance from New York State, including the points outlined at coronavirus.health.ny.gov. CLICK HERE for more information. In accordance with these guidelines, the RDGA will NOT be requiring players to sign a COVID waiver form prior to each 2022 RDGA Tournament.
FORMAT: The RDGA Match Play Championships include separate competitions for Men (ages 18-54) and Seniors (ages 55-plus). Both Men's and Senior brackets feature starting fields of 32 players, each competing in single-elimination match play over the course of five rounds during the 3-day Championship and culminating with the Championship finals on Sunday.
ABOUT: The format of the 2022 RDGA Match Play and RDGA Senior Match Play Championships features 32-player brackets in each division. Registration for this Championship opens on February 1st for the Top 32 players based on points from the 2021 season. Those players have until April 29 at midnight to register. After that, registration becomes open to the next players ranked down the 2021 points list and then active RDGA members with a GHIN® Handicap Index® of 9.9 or less, beginning on April 30 at 9:00 am. The players with the higher point ranking takes precedence.
Once registration has closed, brackets will be seeded based on the Top 32 from the 2021 Men's and Senior points lists first, then by lowest handicap index for those registered players who were unranked. Click on the Match Play Exemptions lists under the Tournament Information tab, above, to see if you are eligible to register on February 1.
