ELIGIBILITY

Open to VSGA members of all ages, but see division age criteria below. Participants must hold an active GHIN number issued by a licensed VSGA Member Club in good standing and meet the USGA Rules of Amateur Status. ENTRY FEE/DEADLINE

All sides (two players) are required to pay an entry fee of $390. The entry fee includes all course fees (including cart) and lunch for all rounds of competition.  In addition, the VSGA will negotiate a discounted practice round fee with the host club. A completed entry form, accompanied by the entry fee must be received in the VSGA Office by March 28, 2022.

FORMAT

Championship Proper

36-hole gross stroke play competition, 18 holes of Two-Person Scramble and 18 holes of Modified Foursomes (alternate shot).

Two-Person Scramble: Both players play from the teeing area, one of the tee shots is selected and both players play their second shots from that spot. One of the second shots is then selected, and both players play their third shots from that spot, and so on until the ball is holed.

Modified Foursomes (alternate shot): Both players play from the teeing area, one of the tee shots is selected and players alternate shots from there until the ball is holed. Example: Player A’s tee shot is selected, player B plays next, then A and so on until the ball is holed.

FIELD SIZE/TOURNAMENT MAKE-UP

The field will be comprised of a maximum of 50 sides (100 players), 25 sides in the open division and 25 sides in the senior division. Players of all ages may compete in the open division. Players ages 50 and over (as of April 11, 2022) may compete in the senior division.

Each division will be divided into an appropriate number of flights based on round one score.

Priority acceptance will be given to the top five teams in each divsion from the previous year. All other entries will be accepted based upon the combined Team Handicap as of March 28, 2022. Entries received after the field is full or after the deadline will be placed on a waiting list.

PRIZES

The Champions of each division will receive trophies and gift certificates. Gift certificates will be awarded to additional sides based on size of divisions/flights.
