2022 Match Play - Welcome

 

It's time to introduce the first major of the year, the 2022 Match Play Championship!

 

The format is a 64-man match play event, which will start with the draw after golf on March 12th.  Each round must be completed in 2 or 3 weeks; round 1 is three weeks and subsequent rounds are 2 weeks. 

 

To be eligible to play in the event, players must be members in good standing (dues have been paid for 2022) and must have played in at least 5 events in 2021 and 2022 combined (by March 12th).

 

This year we will continue the tradition of having a Calcutta event.  The Calcutta will take place after golf on March 12th.  The owners of the winning players split the Calcutta pool in the same manner that the regular pool is split by the Match Play winners.

 

The 2022 Match Play and Calcutta events will be managed entirely by Dave Overby.  Please help the BCMGC Board in thanking Dave for taking care of this year's event!!

 

A few reminders about rules for Match Play:

 

1 -- Players playing in a match will ​NOT​ be able to play in the weekly flight event OR​ in the skins games.  All matches will be played strictly with Match Play Rules, which include concessions of putts and holes.

 

2 -- Players must declare their tees for the entire event before the event begins.  The tees that each player plays from for their first match will be the tees they play from for all of their matches, regardless of the tees the players use for regular Saturday events (i.e., if a player plays from the white tees on a regular basis, they may declare that they will play all matches from the blue tees.  However, when they play in an event that is not a match, they must return to the white tees).

 

The first 64 players who are eligible that register will be entered in the tournament.  Any players that register after the field is filled will be put on the wait list, to fill spots which open before the tournament begins.

 

The entry fee for the event is $25, $24 of which goes to the prize fund, and $1 of which goes to the club; note that the entry fee must be paid by March 12th.

 

There are 6 scheduled rounds of play.  The dates are:

 

1st Round (March 19, March 26, April 2)

2nd Round (April 9, April 16)

3rd Round (April 23, April 30)

4th Round (May 7, May 14)

5th Round (May 21 May 28)

6th Round/Final (June 4, June 11)
