History of the Fall Cup Championship Tournament: The Fall Cup Championship was first played at Acushnet River Valley Golf Club on October 21, 2009, with 6 regions represented. Cohasset Golf Club’s team won the Gross and the Country Club of New Bedford’s team taking home the Net division. TPC Boston and Sagamore Spring Golf Club won the 2020 Gross Division and The Captains Golf Course #2 won the 2020 Net Division.

 

Rules of Golf: The USGA Rules of Golf, Local Rules and Terms of Competitions for Mass Golf Tournaments govern all play.

 

Mass Golf Policies & Procedures: Please refer to Policies & Procedures in Response to Covid-19, Policies & Procedures and Pace of Play Policy.

 

Format: Four-Ball (best ball) stroke play, gross and net. At the end of each hole the two-person team writes down the best person’s score on that hole (gross) and the best handicapped score on that hole (net). Each golfer’s handicap dots will be put on their scorecard for reference. Partners for each team will be paired by handicap index, low to high. Each team’s total score will be determined by its aggregate score.

                 

Shotgun Times: 10:00 AM Shotgun Start. Refer to pairings and starting hole assignments. Golfers to be ready at their carts by 9:50 AM and at their designated hole to start at 10:00 AM.                         

 

Handicaps: 100% Playing Handicap as of September 29th, 2021.

 

Scorecards: Paper scorecards will be provided to all participants for the player’s own notes. All paper scorecards are considered UNOFFICIAL. Do NOT exchange scorecards at any time. The official scorecard will be the mobile golf genius app scoring. Prior to the tournament, players should download the USGA Tournament Management App. Click HERE for mobile scoring instructions. Click HERE to download the app. You will be provided a GGID number on your scorecards and that is the number you type into the app to see your foursome.

 

Enter Gross scores only in the app. Net will be calculated by the app. After all player’s gross scores are entered for a hole, click “Save Scores”. Only one person from the foursome is responsible for inputting scores in the app. You can toggle back and forth from the score input page to the leaderboard near the top of the phone app screen. The designated scorekeeper in the group is responsible for checking hole by hole gross scores at the scoring area with a Mass Golf representative. Mass Golf will not be posting scores to GHIN.

                          

Tees: Mass Golf Red Tees from approximately 5,538 yards.

 

Distance-Measuring Devices: Permitted as specified in Mass Golf Policies & Procedures.

 

Practice Areas: Practice greens, a chipping area and a range are located behind the clubhouse. IRONS ONLY at the driving range. Limited Flight golf balls at the driving range.

 

Yardage Markers: Distance markers in the fairway.

 

Hole Locations: Hole location sheets are in the player portal HERE.

 

Penalty Areas: Defined by red lines or red stakes. In the absence of a line, the stakes shall define the margin of the penalty area.

 

Hole #3 – Left & front of tee (pond), back right of green

Hole #4 – Left (including maintenance area) & in front and right of tee

Hole #5 – Left (including maintenance area), left of green (pond)

Hole #6 – Across front of tee, left, right and across fairway (creek)

Hole #8 – Behind green

Hole #10 – Right near green

Hole #14 – Right near green

Hole #16 – Across fairway (creek)

Hole #17 – Front of tee and left side (creek), behind green

 

Out of Bounds: Defined by the inside edge at ground level of all white stakes, white lines, club driveway/parking lot or roads. When defined by a stonewall/fencing a ball is considered out of bounds when it is completely OVER the stonewall/fence.

Immovable Obstructions: All cart paths (paved or unpaved), roads (paved or unpaved), their immediate extensions/adjacent worn areas and white lined areas tying into cart paths. Relief may be taken.

 

Ground Under Repair: Areas enclosed with white painted lines are considered ground under repair. Relief may be taken. Also, all flower beds are considered ground under repair. Any construction or wood chipping, downed trees are considered ground under repair.

 

Pace of Play:  Pace for this round is 4 hours and 30 minutes. Please ensure that you are keeping within a hole of the group in front of you and within the time par printed on your scorecard.

 

Bathrooms: Located inside the clubhouse (making the turn from 18 to 1) and in the halfway house by the 10th tee.

Water and Snacks: Snacks and drinks will be available for purchase at the halfway house by the 10th tee, which is CASH ONLY.  There are water coolers located on the golf course by the 3rd, 11th, and 13th tees(bottled water will not be provided). There will NOT be a beverage cart on the golf course throughout the day.

 

Food and Beverage – Boxed Lunches: Coffee will be available in the clubhouse prior to play. Boxed lunch will be available starting at 11:30 PM at the turn. Boxed lunches will be distributed at both the clubhouse and the halfway house. Lunch options include a Turkey or Vegitarian sandwich with chips, fruit and a cookie. Please reach out to Mass Golf staff if you have any food allergies/restrictions. The restaurant will be closed after play, but the bar in the clubhouse will be open.

 

Scoring: At the end of the round all scores must be verified by the team before your team’s designated app scorekeeper and unofficial written scorekeeper reports to the scoring tent. These designated scorekeepers are the ONLY individuals from the foursome that needs to report to the scoring area. All other players must not congregate near the scoring area. Scorekeepers must keep social distance in a line to confirm their scores with Mass Golf staff. The designated scorekeeper in the group is responsible for checking hole by hole gross scores at the scoring area with a Mass Golf representative. Mass Golf staff will verify with the designated scorekeepers that their scores are accurate and will take a verbal yes as a confirmation/signature as this will be a no touch process.

 

Awards: Overall low gross and low net teams engraved onto trophy. Ties honored for first place gross and net only. All other ties will be decided by matching cards in accordance with USGA recommended method. Prize certificates to be used at host club. 

 

 DECISIONS BY THE COMMITTEE IN ATTENDANCE ARE FINAL.
