Player Information Sheet & Local Rules
History of the LaBonte Four-Ball Tournament: The “Eleanor I. LaBonte” tournament originated in 1950. In February of 1972 it officially became the “The Eleanor I. LaBonte” tournament. Miss LaBonte served as Executive Secretary for over 25 years and was Handicap Chairperson for 33 years. In 2020 the event officially became the “LaBonte Four-Ball Tournament”. Last year’s 2020 gross winners were Cheryl Murtagh and Janet Bartbookles.
Rules of Golf: The USGA Rules of Golf, Local Rules and Terms of Competitions for Mass Golf Tournaments govern all play.

Format: 18 Hole event. Better ball (hole) of two. Teams play their own ball on each hole. At the end of each hole the two person team writes down the best person’s score on that hole (gross) and the best handicapped score on that hole (net). There will be Gross and Net Divisions.
Shotgun Times: 10:00 AM Shotgun Start. Refer to pairings and starting hole assignments. Golfers to be ready at their carts by 9:50 AM and at their designated hole to start at 10:00 AM.
Handicaps: 85% Playing Handicap as of September 21th, 2021.
Scorecards: Paper scorecards will be provided to all participants for the player’s own notes. All paper scorecards are considered UNOFFICIAL. Do NOT exchange scorecards at any time. The official scorecard will be the mobile golf genius app scoring. Prior to the tournament, players should download the USGA Tournament Management App. Click HERE for mobile scoring instructions. Click HERE to download the app. You will be provided a GGID number on your scorecards and that is the number you type into the app to see your foursome.
Enter Gross scores only in the app. Net will be calculated by the app. After all player’s gross scores are entered for a hole, click “Save Scores”. Only one person from the foursome is responsible for inputting scores in the app. You can toggle back and forth from the score input page to the leaderboard near the top of the phone app screen. The designated scorekeeper in the group is responsible for checking hole by hole gross scores at the scoring area with a Mass Golf representative. Mass Golf will not be posting scores to GHIN.
Tees: Mass Golf Red Tees from approximately 5,168 yards.
Distance-Measuring Devices: Permitted as specified in Mass Golf Policies & Procedures.
Practice Areas: There is a practice putting green and driving range located behind the clubhouse.
Yardage Markers: Markers are located in the fairways.
Hole Locations: Hole location sheets are in the player portal HERE.
Out of Bounds: Defined by the inside edge at ground level of all white stakes, white lines and boundary fence post. When Out of Bounds is defined by a stonewall, a ball is Out of Bounds when it is completely OVER the stonewall.

Penalty Areas: Defined by red lines. In the absence of a line, the stakes define the edge of the penalty area.
Hole #2 – Entire right side, left near green
Hole #4 – Entire right side, left side mid-fairway
Hole #5 – Entire right side
Hole #6 - Right side of hole, left side mid-fairway
Hole #7 - Right of & behind green
Hole #10 - Left side (*No Play Zone)
Hole #11 - Left (pond) & right of green (*No Play Zone)
Hole #18 - Left side mid-fairway (pond)
*No Play Zones: Areas identified with red stakes with green tops are NO PLAY ZONES from which play is prohibited. Players whose ball enters this area on #10 left of the green, and on the right side of #11 must proceed under RULE 17.1e under penalty of one stroke.
Immovable Obstructions: All cart paths (paved or unpaved), roads (paved or unpaved), their immediate extensions/adjacent worn areas and white lined areas tying into cart paths. Relief may be taken.
Ground Under Repair: Areas enclosed with white painted lines are considered ground under repair. Relief may be taken. Also, all flower beds are considered ground under repair. Any construction or wood chipping, downed trees are considered ground under repair.
Pace of Play: Pace for this round is 4 hours and 30 minutes. Please ensure that you are keeping within a hole of the group in front of you.
Bathrooms: Locker rooms are located inside the clubhouse, accessible at the turn through the door located behind the cart barn. Porta-potties are located by the 6th tee and 12th/16th tee.

Water and Snacks: Water coolers (not bottled) are located by the 3rd tee, 7th tee, 12th/16th tees and 14th tee. PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN REFILLABLE WATER BOTTLE. There will be a CASH PREFERRED beverage cart on the golf course throughout the day.
Food and Beverage – Boxed Lunches: There will be coffee available at the clubhouse prior to the round as well as breakfast available for purchase. The bar will be open following the end of play.
Deli boxed lunch will be available from 11:00 AM – 2:00 PM at the turn. The boxed lunch options are as follows, and each comes with fresh fruit, potato chips, a baked cookie and a bottle of water.

Scoring: At the end of the round all scores must be verified by the team before your team’s designated app scorekeeper and unofficial written scorekeeper reports to the scoring tent. These designated scorekeepers are the ONLY individuals from the foursome that needs to report to the scoring area. All other players must not congregate near the scoring area. Scorekeepers must keep social distance in a line to confirm their scores with Mass Golf staff. The designated scorekeeper in the group is responsible for checking hole by hole gross scores at the scoring area with a Mass Golf representative. Mass Golf staff will verify with the designated scorekeepers that their scores are accurate and will take a verbal yes as a confirmation/signature as this will be a no touch process.
Awards: Trophy engraved with names of gross winners. Ties honored for first place gross only. All other ties will be decided by matching cards in accordance with USGA recommended method. Prize certificates to be used at host club.
DECISIONS BY THE COMMITTEE IN ATTENDANCE ARE FINAL.
