2021 CGA Women's Net Match Play Championship

Host Facility: Collindale Golf Course 

 

Championship Dates: Monday, July 19 - Thursday, July 22

 

Registration Window: May 3 - July 13

 

Entry Fee: $250 per competitor 

 

Format (NEW in 2021): The Championship will be played using the PGA TOUR style match play Pod Play system. All players who register for the championship will be guaranteed at least three (3) matches in the championship.

 

Senior Championship: 8 player max field size. Will yield a max of 1 flight, 2 pods of 4 players. Matches played at scratch. 

Age Limit: Players must have reached their 50th birthday on or before July 19

Handicap Details: 15.0 max 

How Senior Championship Field is Filled (new 2021): 

Exempt Players that are listed on the exemption list or fall within one of the exemption categories are guaranteed a spot in the Senior Championship field. Click HERE to view the Exemption List/Categories. The remainder of the Senior Championship field will be filled by handicap index (low - high) after the deadline. Players that do not fall within the field of 8 Senior Championship players will be auotmatically moved into the Net Championship flights.

Players will be seeded by handicap index, except the defending champion who will be seeded number 1 if applicable. After each player is seeded, they will be evenly distributed within two pods with three (3) other players. The winner of each pod (2 players) from the Senior Championship will advance to the final day match and compete for the State Senior Women's Match Play Title.  

NOTE: Senior Championship matches will be played at scratch, no handicap. 

 

Net Championship (Flighted): 56 player max field size. Will yield a max of 7 flights, 14 pods of 4 players, with each flight containing 2 pods. Matches played with handicap. 

Handicap Details: 30.0 max

Each player is flighted and seeded based off handicap index. After each player is flighted and seeded, all players within each flight will be evenly distributed within two pods with three (3) other players from their flight. The winner of each pod will advance to the final day matches and will compete against the other pod winner within their respective flight (2 people per flight).  

NOTE: Net matches will be played with handicap by wheeling off the lowest players course handicap. 

NOTE:Those players that signed up for but do not fall within the Senior Championship field at the deadline will be moved into the Net Championship. 

NOTE: Net Championship is filled on a first come, first served basis using the registration date and time. If a tournament is oversubscribed, a wait list will be maintained in case of cancellation.

Championship Schedule: 

Monday (7/19): Day 1 of Pod Play 
Tuesday (7/20): Day 2 of Pod Play 

Wednesday (7/21): Day 3 of Pod Play 

Thursday (7/22): Final Matches for pod winners

 

Pod Structure/Seeding: Pod Structure will be weighted evenly with pod 1 containing 1v8, 4v5 and pod 2 containing 2v7, 3v6. Pod structure will be available to view under the Tournament Information tab once players are seeded. 

 

Pod Play Scoring: There will be no extra holes during the pod play portion of matches. Scoring during pod play will be as follows:
Match Won – 1 point | Match Tied – ½ point | Match Lost – 0 Points. 

Note: If there is a tie for the pod winner, a sudden death playoff will determine the person advancing from that pod.

 

Starting Times: Beginning at 7:30am each day. 

 

Tee Time Estimates: Will be available under the Tournament Information tab. 

 

Groupings: Players will play in groups of four (4) during Pod Play. There will be two matches taking place at each tee time. All players will be grouped by their pod.

 

Carts/Caddies: 

Carts are optional, included in entry fee.

NOTE: Only two carts are allowed per group. Players have priority for carts over caddies.

Prizes: Merchandise gift certificates are awarded to the winner, runner-up and players finishing second within their pod. The Senior Championship winner and runner-up will each receive a trophy. The Senior Champion winner will be the state senior champion.

Food & Beverage: Lunch will be provided on day three of pod play following play, included in entry. 

 

Score Posting: Scores from match play events will NOT be posted by the CGA. The player may post their own score at the end of a round. The Tournament Director will always provide the applicable slope/rating for posting purposes.
