The field of 73 contestants will compete for five (5) qualifying places and two alternate positions in the Final Qualifying stage for the 76th U.S. Women’s Open Championship to be played June 3 – June 6, 2021 at The Olympic Club (Lake Course) in San Francisco, California

REGISTRATION:  Players are to report to their assigned starting tees, ready to play, 10 minutes before their starting times.

STARTING TIMES:  Pairings have been included in a separate document to this memo/email.  Players are requested to check in with the starter on the #1/#10 tee 10 minutes ahead of their starting time.  The first time of the day will be at 7:00 a.m.

RULES:  The USGA Rules of Golf and the Local Rules and Conditions of Competition for 2021 USGA Championships (USGA Hard Card), and the local Notice to Players govern play in this Local Qualifier. The USGA Hard Card is attached.

PLAYOFF:  In the event of a tie for the last qualifying place, there will be a hole-by-hole playoff to determine the final qualifiers and the 1st and 2nd alternate if necessary. All announcements regarding the play-off will be made at the public scoreboard upon completion of the qualifying round.  Players in contention are advised to remain at the course until all scores are posted and results determined.  Otherwise, they may forfeit their positions.  Players who have the potential to be in a playoff must not return to the competition course to play or practice, prior to the conducting of the playoff.  Penalty for breach: Disqualification from playoff.

The USGA strongly suggests that all players verify the conformance of their clubs well in advance of their scheduled qualifying competition. It is the player’s responsibility, not the USGA’s responsibility to ensure that his clubs conform. Waiting until the day of the competition is the fault of the player. The Committee is under no obligation to test the club the competitor may play. However, if it is later determined that the club is nonconforming, including after the competition has closed, the player will be disqualified.

DMDS: During both Local Qualifying rounds, the use of electronic distance measuring devices to measure distance is allowed (subject to certain requirements). However, during the Championship Proper, the Local Rule as prescribed in Section 8 of the Committee Procedures is in effect and prohibits the use of electronic distance measuring devices. Model Local Rule G-5.
