97th SIGA Championship

TERMS OF COMPETITION

By filing this entry competitor agrees they are subject to the Terms of Competition as set forth below

 

ELIGIBILITY

Entries are open to amateur golfers who are affiliated with or are a member of a club which is a Member Club of the Metropolitan Amateur Golf Association.  The entrant must have an up-to-date and current USGA Handicap Index.  This entry and USGA Handicap Index must be certified by the Association (or a Member Club) authorized to issue a USGA Handicap Index.  Entries are subject to rejection at any time (including during the Championship) by the Championship Committee.  The reason for rejection may include unbecoming conduct.  Field will be limited to 144 applicants. 

 

DIVISION
The following Divisions will be available for the Championship:

Men’s – Gross and Net

Women’s – Gross and Net

Junior – Boy’s and Girls’ (No older than 18 as of July 17, 2021)

Senior Men & Women – Gross (Age 55 as of July 17, 2021)

Super Senior Men & Women – Gross (Age 62 as of July 17, 2021)

 

Net Divisions will utilize the USGA Handicap Index as of close of entries. A minimum of four (4) entries per Division MUST be registered for that Division to be conducted.    

 

ENTRIES:  Form, Fee, Closing Date

All players shall apply on the attached form or online.  Copies are acceptable.

 

$85.00 ($50.00 for Juniors) entry fee shall be paid by every applicant.  Entrant may file only (1) entry.  Entry fee will be refunded regardless of the reason if the Metropolitan Office is notified prior to the close of entries, July 12, 2021.  After the close of entries, entry fee will be refunded only after written proof to the Championship Committee of injury or illness and such written request for refund is made prior to July 16, 2021.  No refunds for any reason if written request is made on or after July 16, 2021.  Application and fees must reach the Association’s Office at the address listed on the entry form by 5:00 p.m., July 12, 2021.  (Entries by telephone, telegraph or fax are not acceptable.)

 

SCHEDULE

CHAMPIONSHIP: 36 holes at stroke play.

144 players are eligible, including exempt players. 

SATURDAY, JULY 17 - First Round, 18 Holes

SUNDAY, JULY 18 - Second Round, 18 Holes

 

Lowest scorer for 36 Holes will be Champion.  Any tie(s) will be decided by a hole-by-hole playoff following completion of play.  

 

PRACTICE PRIVILEGES

Kokopelli Golf Club will be available for one (1) practice round the week of the Championship at the players expense.  Competitors must call ahead for to make reservations with Kokopelli Golf Shop at (618) 997-5656.    

 

RULES OF GOLF

Play will be governed by the United States Golf Association Rules of Golf.  Questions shall be settled by the Championship Committee whose decision shall be final.

 

GOLF BALLS; DRIVER HEADS

Only brands of golf balls on the most current USGA List of Conforming Balls may be used.  (List is available at www.usga.org).  Local Rule as prescribed in Section 8 of the Committee Procedures is in effect.  Model Local Rule G-3.

FOOTWEAR

Kokopelli GC is a spikeless facility.  Shoes with traditionally-designed spikes, comprised either partially or entirely of metal, are prohibitedPenalty for breach of this Condition:  DISQUALIFICATION

 

CADDIES; AUTOMOTIVE TRANSPORTATION

Automotive Transportation is permissible during the Championship at the player’s expense. 

 

REGISTRATION AT KOKOPELLI GOLF CLUB

All players must be ready to play at their appropriate starting point and starting time, as published.

 

CONDITIONS, SCHEDULES

The Championship Committee reserves the right to alter any of the conditions and schedules herein.  The decision of the Championship Committee in any matter shall be final.

 

PERSONAL APPEARANCE

During all phases of the Championship, Competitors must be neat in appearance with respect to clothing and personal grooming.  The Championship Committee shall decide whether this requirement has been met and has authority to withdraw the entry of a Competitor who does not comply.  The wearing of Bermuda length shorts is permitted.

 

NOTICE CONCERNING AMATEUR STATUS

Participation in this event is conditioned on Amateur Status.  The USGA Rules of Amateur Status shall apply.  The Championship Committee reserves the right to disqualify any participant for not having Amateur Status.  Disqualifying events include (i) competing for cash prizes in any amount and (ii) competing for merchandise prizes exceeding $750 in retail value.
