COVID-19 CHAMPIONSHIP POLICIES AND PROCEDURES
All contestants should be familiar with the policies and procedures in place.
COVID-19 CHAMPIONSHIP PARTICIPANT WAIVER
All contestants MUST sign the participant waiver prior to arriving at the championship. The waiver will be emailed to all contestants to sign digitally using SignNow.
FIELD LIMIT
Field will be limited to 120 qualified entrants. At the close of entry, the field of 120 will be filled by exempt players and players who advance from the five qualifiers.
ENTRY DEADLINE
Entry applications, along with the appropriate fee, must be completed or received by WA Golf by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, June 14, 2021.
REFUND POLICY
Refunds due to cancellation before the close of entry are subject to a $10 service charge. After the close of entry and up until round one pairings are released, refunds for documented and approved medical reasons are subject to a $25 service charge. No refund for any reason will be issued after round one pairings have been released unless replaced by a player from the waitlist.
Course yardage is subject to change based on weather/course conditions. Hole-by-hole yardages are posted on the championship portal and will be emailed to players. Course Yardage: 6,988 yards, par-72
ONSITE REGISTRATION
All contestants must register in person with WA Golf at Gold Mountain Golf Club prior to the championship. Registration will be located outside the golf shop during the following times:
MONDAY, JULY 5: 11:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.
TUESDAY, JULY 6: 6:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
STARTING TIMES AND PAIRINGS
Round one and two starting times will be released on Monday, June 28. Contestants will be re-paired by gross scores for the final round, with the leaders starting last. Preferred starting time requests will not be accepted. Starting times will be posted on the WA Golf website (WAgolf.org), on the Championship Portal and will be emailed to each player.
SCHEDULE
54-hole stroke play. In the event of a tie for the championship, a hole-by-hole playoff will be held immediately following play to determine the winner.
TUESDAY, JULY 6: Starting times off the #1 tee from 7:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
WEDNESDAY, JULY 7: Starting times off the #1 tee from 7:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
THURSDAY, JULY 8: Starting times off the #1 tee from 7:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
PRACTICE ROUND
Contestants may play one complimentary practice round prior to the championship. Practice rounds will be available on Monday, July 5 for all players. Local contestants can play a practice round in the week prior on a space available basis. All practice round starting times are at the discretion of the golf shop staff. Tee times can be made by calling the Gold Mountain golf shop at (360) 415-5432, beginning on Monday, June 28 after qualifying is complete and the field is set.
FOOD SERVICE (NO-HOST)
Food service will be available at the Turn Stand next to the driving range starting at 6:00 a.m. Breakfast, lunch and snack items will be available as well as beverages. Full menu service in the restaurant will be available from 11:00 a.m. until close.
BOTTLED WATER
WA Golf will provide bottled water during the championship. Coolers will be at multiple locations on the golf course. A beverage cart will not be on the course during play.
METHODS OF PAYMENT
Gold Mountain Golf Club accepts all major credit cards and cash.
HOURS OF OPERATION
The golf shop and driving range will open at 5:30 a.m. and close at dusk.
RANGE BALLS
Warm up range balls will be provided to contestants on the driving range before each round from 6:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.
CARTS
The Local Rule prohibiting the use of motorized transportation for competitors as prescribed in Section 8 of the Committee Procedures is in effect.
SPECTATOR CARTS
To provide an equal championship platform for all competitors, the use of carts by spectators is not permitted by WA Golf.
CHAMPIONSHIP ACCOMMODATIONS FOR DISABLED SPECTATORS
WA Golf is committed to providing an enjoyable spectator experience for people with disabilities at WA Golf Championships. Requests from spectators seeking transportation onto the golf course due to a permanent disability, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), should be submitted one week in advance to the WA Golf Championship Department. While spectator carts may not always be available at each site, WA Golf will make every effort to accommodate these requests when available.
Generally, an ADA covered disability is defined as a “physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more of the major life activities of the individual”. See, 42 USCA §12102. Spectators with a “temporary” injury or impairment that is not an ADA disability will not be allowed use of a golf cart under this Policy.
Spectators with transportation needs must contact the WA Golf Championship Department prior to the championship. This full policy is available at the following link: wagolf.org/policies.
PUSH CARTS
Pull carts are permitted and will be available to rent for $7 in the golf shop.
CADDIES
Host club caddies will not be available. A player may provide his own caddie. Caddies will be required to wear a caddie bib provided on the starting tee.
PRIZES
All prizes will be awarded according to 54-hole scores. In addition to the below awards, a $4,500 merchandise payout will be distributed to top finishing players. All merchandise credit is good in the Gold Mountain golf shop and players will be issued a certificate.
Champion: Crystal trophy
Runner-up: Crystal trophy
Top-10: Crystal medallion
Awards will be given to any contestant who scores a hole-in-one or eagle during the championship.
AWARDS CEREMONY
WA Golf will host awards ceremonies on Thursday, July 8 immediately upon completion of play in each championship.
EXEMPTIONS
Champion earns an exemption into the following events:
- Lifetime exemption into the Washington Men’s Amateur Championship
- 2022 Washington Champion of Champions
- 2022 Pacific Northwest Men’s Amateur Championship
- 2021 & 2022 Pacific Coast Amateur Championship
PERFORMANCE POINTS LIST
Points for the Washington Men’s Amateur are allocated as follows: Champion (125), Runner-up (100), Top-5 (75), Top-10 (50), Top-15 (25), Top-20 (15) and Top-30 (5) finishers.
GHIN SCORE POSTING
WA Golf will post competition scores for all players to the USGA GHIN System.
DRESS CODE
Players and caddies must be neat in appearance with respect to personal grooming and clothing while on host club property. The WA Golf Dress Code Policy is available at the following link: wagolf.org/policies and will be provided to all players, along with any additional measures required by the host club, in the Player Memorandum.
CODE OF CONDUCT
WA Golf expects all contestants, caddies, gallery, and guests to exhibit proper conduct and behavior on the golf course and anywhere on club property during a WA Golf Championship. Unbecoming conduct or behavior may be grounds for immediate disqualification, at any time, from any WA Golf event. The following are some examples of unbecoming conduct or behavior:
- Repeated use of loud, abusive, and/or profane language
- Throwing and/or breaking equipment (club, ball, etc.) in anger or frustration
- Damaging host club, WA Golf, and/or fellow contestant property
- Public criticism or verbal abuse of host club, officials, volunteers or staff, and/or WA Golf volunteers, staff or fellow contestants
- Potential endangerment of others
- Intentionally violating stated club policy
- Violation of WA Golf Dress Code and/or Footwear Policy
- Other conduct deemed unbecoming
The Committee in charge of the competition shall be the sole judge of determining Conduct Code violations.
UNOFFICIAL WITHDRAWAL
After the entry deadline and during play of the championship, players must notify WA Golf and state his or her need to withdraw. Entrants who unofficially withdraw (by not notifying WA Golf or without having sufficient reason) will not be granted entry into any future WA Golf Championship for a minimum of two years.
PACE OF PLAY POLICY
Players are encouraged to be familiar with WA Golf’s Pace of Play Policy, which is in effect at all championships.
LOCAL RULES AND TERMS OF THE COMPETITION
Players are encouraged to be familiar with WA Golf’s 2021 Local Rules and Terms of the Competition, which will be in effect at all championships.
PROHIBITED USE OF AUDIO EQUIPMENT
Rule 4.3 is modified in this way: During a round, a player is not allowed to use an electronic device to listen to music or other audio (such as podcasts or the like), including by using speakers, headphones or earbuds. Penalty for breach of Local Rule - see Rule 4.3.
