As a club we use a handicap based on your scores during our events...we call this handicap the Handicap Server handicap. Although we follow the World Handicap solution\calculation as described below; in our events we go one step further and create a Handicao Server handicap using JUST scores from events within our club. Therefore your World Handicap may be slighttly different than the handicap used in oour events; Handicap Server handicap.
The World Handicap solution is based on the USGA Handicap Index. As a member of BCMGC you would receive membership priveleges to receive a USGA Handicap. How the USGA handicap is used to identify the World Handicap is explained below. Please note that the handicap you play with can vary if you play form the various tee options (Blue or White or ??)
With the new World Handicap System, there is an added component to the course handicap calculation that impacts the handicap used. In addition to the traditional course slope calculation, there is now an adjustment associated with the difference between the course tee rating and par for the course. The complete calculation looks like this: ((Handicap Index x (Slope Rating / 113)) + (Course Rating - Par));
Bear Creek Course Ratings as of scorecard 2020/03/06
Tees | Slope | Course Rating | Par | Yards |
Gold | 122 | 71.6 | 71 | 6825 |
Blue | 116 | 69.6 | 71 | 6418 |
White | 110 | 67.3 | 71 | 5978 |
Example Below
Handicap Index = 10.5 playing the Whites at Bear Creek
Step1
- Adjust Course Slope Rating
- 110/113 = .9734
Step 2
- Handicap Index Adjustment using Adjusted Course Slope Rating (Step 1)
- 10.5 * .9734 = 10.2207
Step 3
- Adjust Course Par
- 67.3 - 71 = -3.7
Step 4
- Handicap for Course by adding adjusted handicap (Step 2) and the Adjust Course Par(Step 3)
- 10.2207 + -3.7= 6.5207
So Course Handicap roled up to 7 on White tees at Bear Creek
