COVID-19 CHAMPIONSHIP POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

All contestants should be familiar with the policies and procedures in place.

 

COVID-19 CHAMPIONSHIP PARTICIPANT WAIVER

All contestants MUST sign the participant waiver prior to arriving at the championship. The waiver will be emailed to all contestants to sign digitally using DocuSign.

 

FIELD LIMIT

96 Teams - (48 Amateur, 32 Senior, 16 Super Senior)

 

ENTRY DEADLINE

Entry applications, along with the appropriate fee, must be completed or received by WA Golf by 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 28, 2021.

 

REFUND POLICY

Refunds due to cancellation before the close of entry are subject to a $10 service charge. After the close of entry and up until round one pairings are released, refunds for documented and approved medical reasons are subject to a $25 service charge. No refund for any reason will be issued after round one pairings have been released.

Note: Teams who cancel and are replaced by a team on the waiting list will only be subject to a $10 service fee.

Small 1-Bedroom – $141 per night including tax, max capacity – 1 couple or 2 individuals.
Large 1-Bedroom – $178.50 per night including tax, max capacity – 1 couple or 2 individuals.
2-Bedroom Casita – $292.50 per night including tax, max capacity – 2 couples or 2 individuals.
4-Bedroom Casita – $411.50 per night including tax, max capacity – 4 individuals.


**The following rates are subject to a 2-night minimum and will be available on a first come first serve basis. Reservations can be made by calling (509) 784-1234. Players should identify themselves as Washington Men’s Four-Ball Participants when booking.**

 

Additionally, WA Golf members can enjoy large discounts off hotels, as well as preferred rates for other travel opportunities and entertainment venues by using WA Golf Rewards! You will be prompted to login or create an account using your GHIN #. Once logged in you will be able to search hotels at a large discount.

 

ONSITE REGISTRATION

All contestants must register in person with WA Golf at Desert Canyon Golf Resort prior to the championship. Registration will be located outside the golf shop during the following times:

WEDNESDAY, MAY 12:  11:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

THURSDAY, MAY 13:  7:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

 

STARTING TIMES AND PAIRINGS

Round 1 starting times will be released by Friday, May 7. Preferred starting time requests will not be accepted. Starting times will be posted on the championship portal and will be emailed to each player. Teams will be re-paired by gross scores for the final round, with the leaders starting last.

 

HANDICAPS

Handicap Indexes on Tuesday, May 11 will be used for the championship. Playing handicaps will be calculated by using 85% of a player’s course handicap.

 

FLIGHTS

Flights will be finalized on Tuesday, May 11 after handicaps have been updated. The Men’s and Senior Men’s Championship will be divided into two flights each. The Super Senior will be one flight.

 

COURSE YARDAGE

Course yardage is subject to change based on weather/course conditions. Hole-by-hole yardages are posted on the championship portal and will be emailed to players.

Men’s Flight 1 Yardage: 6,997 yards, par-72

Men’s Flight 2 Yardage: 6,532 yards, par-72

Senior Men’s Flight 1 Yardage: 6,532 yards, par-72

Senior Men’s Flight 2 Yardage: 6,212 yards, par-72

Super Senior Men’s Yardage: 6,212 yards, par-72

 

SCHEDULE

36-hole four-ball stroke play (gross & net). In the event of a tie for the championship, a hole-by-hole playoff will be held immediately following play to determine the winner.

THURSDAY, MAY 13:Starting times off the #1 and #10 tees

7:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. (Men’s Four-Ball)
12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. (Senior and Super Senior Men’s Four-Ball)

 

FRIDAY, MAY 14: Starting times off the #1 and #10 tees

7:30 a.m. – 9:30 a.m. (Senior and Super Senior Men’s Four-Ball)

12:30 p.m. – 2:30 p.m. (Men’s Four-Ball)

 

PRACTICE ROUND

Contestants may play one complimentary practice round prior to the championship. Practice rounds will be available all day on Wednesday, May 12 for out of town contestants. Local contestants can play a practice round in the two weeks prior on a space available basis. All practice round starting times are at the discretion of the golf shop staff. Tee times can be made by calling the Desert Canyon Golf Shop at (509) 784-1111 beginning on April 29. Players will be responsible for the $40 (team) cart fee. 

 

FOOD SERVICE (NO-HOST)

Food service will be available at the Coffee House starting at 6:30 a.m. Breakfast, lunch and snack items will be available as well as beverages. Full menu service in The Oasis Restaurant will be available from 11:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. each day (bar service until 10:00 p.m.)

 

BOTTLED WATER

WA Golf will provide bottled water during the championship. Coolers will be at multiple locations on the golf course. A beverage cart will not be on the course during play. 

 

HOSTED LUNCH

Each contestant will receive one voucher for a hosted meal when they register with WA Golf. Vouchers may be redeemed between May 12 and May 14 in The Oasis. Players will be able to order off a limited menu.

 

METHODS OF PAYMENT

Desert Canyon Golf Resort accepts all major credit cards and cash as methods of payment.

 

HOURS OF OPERATION

The golf shop and the driving range will be open from 6:00 a.m. to dusk.

 

RANGE BALLS

Warm-up range balls will be provided to contestants on the driving range before each round.

 

CARTS

Carts are mandatory during the championship and included in the entry fee. Each team will receive one cart.

  

SPECTATOR CARTS

To provide an equal championship platform for all competitors, the use of carts by spectators is not permitted by WA Golf. 


CHAMPIONSHIP ACCOMMODATIONS FOR DISABLED SPECTATORS

WA Golf is committed to providing an enjoyable spectator experience for people with disabilities at WA Golf Championships. Requests from spectators seeking transportation onto the golf course due to a permanent disability, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), should be submitted one week in advance to the WA Golf Championship Department. While spectator carts may not always be available at each site, WA Golf will make every effort to accommodate these requests when available. 

Generally, an ADA covered disability is defined as a “physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more of the major life activities of the individual”. See, 42 USCA §12102. Spectators with a “temporary” injury or impairment that is not an ADA disability will not be allowed use of a golf cart under this Policy.

 

Spectators with transportation needs must contact the WA Golf Championship Department prior to the championship. This full policy is available at the following link: wagolf.org/policies.

 

CADDIES

Host club caddies will not be available. A player may provide his own caddie. Caddies will be required to pay a cart fee.

 

PRIZES

All prizes will be awarded according to 36-hole, stroke play scores (gross & net) in each championship and flight.

Champions: Crystal award and merchandise credit. Other high finishers will receive merchandise credit. All merchandise credit must be redeemed in the Desert Canyon Golf Resort golf shop.

 

Awards will be given to any contestant who scores a hole-in-one or eagle during the championship. 

 

AWARDS CEREMONY

WA Golf will host awards ceremonies on Friday, May 14 immediately upon completion of play in each championship.

 

EXEMPTIONS

The champions of the Men’s Four-Ball will earn exemptions into the 2022 Washington Men’s Four-Ball Championship and the 2022 Washington Champion of Champions at The Home Course in DuPont, Wash.

 

The champions of the Senior Men’s Four-Ball will earn exemptions into the 2022 Washington Senior Men’s Four-Ball Championship and the 2022 Washington Champion of Champions at The Home Course in DuPont, Wash.

 

GHIN SCORE POSTING

WA Golf will post competition scores for all players to the USGA Ghin System. For posting purposes, any time a hole is not finished, players must mark down X and their most likely score. Example: X5 or X8.

 

DRESS CODE

Players and caddies must be neat in appearance with respect to personal grooming and clothing while on host club property. The WA Golf Dress Code Policy is available at the following link: wagolf.org/policies and will be provided to all players, along with any additional measures required by the host club, in the Player Memorandum.

 

CODE OF CONDUCT

WA Golf expects all contestants, caddies, gallery, and guests to exhibit proper conduct and behavior on the golf course and anywhere on club property during a WA Golf Championship. Unbecoming conduct or behavior may be grounds for immediate disqualification, at any time, from any WA Golf event. The following are some examples of unbecoming conduct or behavior:

  • Repeated use of loud, abusive, and/or profane language
  • Throwing and/or breaking equipment (club, ball, etc.) in anger or frustration
  • Damaging host club, WA Golf, and/or fellow contestant property
  • Public criticism or verbal abuse of host club, officials, volunteers or staff, and/or WA Golf volunteers, staff or fellow contestants
  • Potential endangerment of others
  • Intentionally violating stated club policy
  • Violation of WA Golf Dress Code and/or Footwear Policy
  • Other conduct deemed unbecoming

 

The Committee in charge of the competition shall be the sole judge of determining Conduct Code violations.

 

UNOFFICIAL WITHDRAWAL

After the entry deadline and during play of the championship, players must notify WA Golf and state his need to withdraw. Entrants who unofficially withdraw (by not notifying WA Golf or without having sufficient reason) will not be granted entry into any future WA Golf Championship for a minimum of two years.

 

PACE OF PLAY POLICY

Players are encouraged to be familiar with WA Golf’s Pace of Play Policy, which is in effect at all championships.

 

LOCAL RULES AND TERMS OF THE COMPETITION

Players are encouraged to be familiar with WA Golf’s 2021 Local Rules and Terms of the Competition, which will be in effect at all championships.

 

PROHIBITED USE OF AUDIO EQUIPMENT

Rule 4.3 is modified in this way: During a round, a player is not allowed to use an electronic device to listen to music or other audio (such as podcasts or the like), including by using speakers, headphones or earbuds. Penalty for breach of Local Rule - see Rule 4.3.
