The Louisiana Amateur Championship is the most prestigious of the organization's championships, having been conducted every year since 1920. Entries are open to any Louisiana resident (as of at least 90 days prior to July 22, 2021) who is an amateur golfer holding membership in a LGA member club in good standing. Entrants must possess a certified World Handicap Index of 8.0 or less.

ENTRY DEADLINE: Tuesday, June 8, 2021, 5:00 PM CST

ENTRY FEE: $225, plus cart fee for qualifying round only. Important Note: Entrants not successful in qualifying for Championship rounds play will receive a refund of $100 at the conclusion of the Amateur Championship. If an entrant fails to show up to the qualifier and does not notify the LGA before the start of the qualifier, no refund will be issued. For those who qualify for Championship rounds play, there are no additional fees. 

REFUND POLICY: Entry fee will be refunded regardless of reason if LGA office is notified, in writing, before 5:00 PM CST on June 8, 2021. After 5 PM on June 8, 2021, fee will be refunded only in the event of injury or illness provided notification (accompanied by a doctor’s statement) reaches LGA office by July 21, 2021. A $45 service charge will be deducted from all refunds. 

CONDITIONS/SCHEDULE: The LGA Tournament Committee reserves the right to alter any of the conditions and schedules herein. The decision of the Tournament Committee in any matter shall be final.

DRESS CODE: In all Championship rounds play, competitors must be neat in appearance and wear appropriate attire. No gym shorts, cutoffs, blue jeans, tee shirts, etc. Shorts must be Bermuda length. Important Note: All qualifying host facilities and Squire Creek Country Club are spikeless facilities and all competitors will be required to wear spikeless shoes.

ELIGIBILITY: Entries are open to any Louisiana resident (as of at least 90 days prior to July 22, 2021) who is an amateur golfer (as defined by the USGA) holding membership in a LGA member club in good standing (2021 club and individual dues must be paid). Entrants must possess a certified USGA Handicap Index of 8.0 or less. Non-amateurs are not eligible. Entries are subject to rejection at any time (including during the Championship) by the LGA. Reasons for rejection may include unbecoming conduct. 

FORMAT OF PLAY: Competition will be stroke play.
2. Championship rounds: A field of 144 players will be accepted. 72 holes (4 days x 18 holes/day). 

Championship Schedule:

Thursday, July 22/First Round, 18 holes; Friday, July 23/Second Round, 18 holes (60 lowest scorers and ties will continue play July 24-25; remainder eliminated after 36 holes).

Saturday, July 24/Third Round, 18 holes; Sunday, July 25/Fourth Round, 18 holes.

Lowest scorer for 72 holes will be the 102nd Louisiana Amateur Champion.

PRACTICE PRIVILEGES: Practice privileges are extended to participants in Championship Round play at Squire Creek Country Club on July 21 (one practice round only/participants only). Cart fee paid by LGA.

PRIZES/PLAYOFF: Gift certificates will be awarded to the top 20 finishers in the Championship. The Amateur Champion will also receive a Crystal Trophy signifying the 102nd Louisiana Amateur Championship. In case of a tie for the Championship, a sudden death playoff will take place immediately upon conclusion of play on Sunday. Top 30 finishers and ties will be exempt into the 103rd Louisiana Amateur Championship. 

HEADQUARTERS HOTEL: Squire Creek Golf Houses, single rooms with queen beds $125/night and King suites $150/night. The golf houses are located on the Squire Creek property just a short walk from the clubhouse adjacent to the pool. Each room has its own bathroom, Flat screen TV and Wifi access. The unique floor plan and security allows for the rooms to be individually reserved or reserved as a group. You may begin to make your reservations for the Squire Creek Golf Houses on or after April 2nd at 8AM. Reservations will be made in the order of calls received. Please call 318-768-7000 to make reservations. 

RULES OF GOLF: Play will be governed by the current Rules of Golf and LGA Rules of Play Card. All questions will be settled by the LGA Rules Committee, whose decision will be final.

Exemptions: 

1. Top 30 and ties from the 2020 LGA Amateur Championship. 

2. LGA Amateur Champions of the last 10 years. 

3. LGA Mid-Amateur Champions of the last five years (2015-19) and top 5 finishers from previous year's Mid-Amateur. Note the 2020 LGA Mid-Amatuer was canceled due to COVID-19.

4. LGA Senior Amateur Champions of the last three years (2018-20). 

5. LGA Junior Amateur Champions of the last three years and top 5 finishers in 2020. 

6. All Amateur qualifiers to the 2020 U.S. Open, U.S. Amateur, U.S. Mid-Amateur, U.S. Senior Open, U.S. Senior Amateur, and U.S. Junior Amateur. Note that all 2020 USGA qualifiers were canceled due to COVID-19.
