Player Information Sheet & Local Rules
History of the Fall Cup Championship: The Fall Cup Championship was first played at Acushnet River Valley Golf Club on October 21, 2009, with 6 regions represented. Cohasset Golf Club’s team won the Gross and the Country Club of New Bedford’s team taking home the Net division. TPC Boston won the 2019 Gross Division and Oakley Country Club won the Net Division.
Rules of Golf: The USGA Rules of Golf, Local Rules and Terms of Competitions for Mass Golf Tournaments govern all play.
Mass Golf Policies & Procedures: Please refer Policies & Procedures in Response to Covid 19, Policies & Procedures and Pace of Play Policy. Mask requirement still in effect at range and practice green.
Format: Four-Ball (best ball) stroke play, gross and net. At the end of each hole the two-person team writes down the best person’s score on that hole (gross) and the best handicapped score on that hole (net). Each golfer’s handicap dots will be put on their scorecard for reference. Partners for each team will be paired by handicap index, low to high. Each team’s total score will be determined by its aggregate score.
Starting Times: Tee Times starting at 8:30 am. Please refer to tee sheet HERE.
Handicaps: The USGA GHIN revision as of September 1st, 2020 will be used and applied at 100% of the course handicap for all players in the Championship.
Scorecards: Paper scorecards will be provided to all participants for the player’s own notes. All paper scorecards are considered UNOFFICIAL. Do NOT exchange scorecards at any time. Online/Mobile Scoring via USGA Tournament Management. Prior to the Tournament, players should download the USGA Tournament Management App. Click HERE for mobile scoring instructions. Click HERE to download the App. Enter Gross scores only. Net will be calculated by the App. After all gross scores are entered for a Hole, click “Save Scores”. Mass Golf will NOT be posting player’s scores. Only one person from the foursome is responsible for inputting scores on the App.

Distance-Measuring Devices: Permitted as specified in Mass Golf Championship Policies & Procedures.
Practice Areas: Players are first allowed on practice areas withing 45 minutes of their tee time. The suggested flow should begin with the practice range, the to the practice putting green/short game area for the remainder of time before reporting to the tee. You can drive your golf cart to the driving range across the street from the parking lot. There is a short game area there as well. Also, there are putting greens near the pro shop.

Red Stakes and/or Lines:
Hole #1: Pond left side of green.
Hole #5: Pond in front and right side of green.
Hole #11: Pond right of tees.
Hole #16: Pond left side where dogleg begins to left side of green.
Hole #18: Pond right side of fairway, in front of and behind green.
Yellow Stakes and/or Lines:
Hole #17: In front of tee box. (Drop area provided as an added relief option)

Out of Bounds – White Stakes (All roadsides defined by the inside edge of the asphalt curbing on the golf course side of the hole being played):
Hole #1: Left side of hole until pond beside green.
Hole #3: Right side of hole.
Hole #4: Left side of hole and first half of hole on right side.
Hole #5: Left side of hole, behind green, right of #5 defined by the road.
Hole #6: Left and right side of hole.
Hole #7: Right side of hole, left side of hole defined by fence.
Hole #8: Right side of hole and behind hole, left side of hole defined by fence.
Hole #9: Left and right side of hole.
Hole #10: Left side of hole, right side across the road and where white stakes start.
Hole #11: Left side and after pond on right side.
Hole #12: Right side, left side defined by fence.
Hole #13: Right side and behind hole, left side defined by fence.
Hole #14: Left and right side of hole.
Hole #15: Left and right side of hole.
Hole #16: Right side of hole and left side until pond.
Hole #18: Left side of hole and right side of hole until pond begins.
Environmentally Sensitive Areas (Cannot Play Ball In This Area - Allows Relief With Penalty):
Hole #1: Right of green.
Hole #2: Left side of hole and behind green.
Hole #3: Left side of hole.
Ground under Repair:
Marked by white lines and/or circles. All newly sodded and seeded areas and flower beds are deemed ground under repair and relief MUST be taken.
Free Relief Areas:
If swing, stance or line of sight is affected. Locate nearest point of relief, one club length, no nearer the hole and drop from knee.
Hole #5: If ball comes to rest on any edged bark mulch around base of tree in fairway.
Hole #9: Foot bridge in greenside bunker. Must be dropped and stay in bunker.
Hole #11: Greenside net on the left.
Flagsticks: Flagsticks may be removed during the course of play by player.
Bunker Relief: All bunker rakes will be removed from the golf course. A ball that comes to rest in the bunker may be marked, lifted, cleaned and dropped one club length no closer to the hole and come to rest within the relief area within the bunker. The area in which a player intends to drop may not be improved in any way. Players are expected to smooth all footprints (unkept areas) with their foot, club or other device to the best of their ability after they hit their shot.
Bathrooms: Located in the clubhouse upstairs through the main doors to the left and downstairs through the pro shop at the end of the hallway. Restrooms are available on the course between holes 4/5 and 15/16 (Code = 51).

Drinking Water: Players must provide their own water as water coolers will not be available. Mass Golf will provide each participant with a bottle of water at the start of their round.
Snack Bar/Beverage Cart: There will be NO BEVERAGE CART on the course and the BAR WILL NOT BE OPEN. Players should prepare to bring their own snacks and beverages.
Lunch: Deli boxed lunch options are turkey, roast beef and veggie sandwiches. Also included will be potato chips, fresh fruit, chocolate chip cookie and choice of bottled water or soda. Players may pick up their lunch between 10:00 am and 3:00 pm at the turn. Those teeing off later in the day are offered to pick up their lunch before their round.
Scoring: At the end of the round all scores must be verified by the foursome before your designated scorekeeper reports to the scoring tent. The designated scorekeeper is the ONLY individual that needs to report to the scoring tent. All other players must not congregate near the scoring area. Mass Golf staff will verify with each designated scorekeeper that their scores are accurate and will take a verbal yes as a confirmation/signature as this will be a no touch process.
Awards: Overall low gross and low net teams engraved onto trophy. Ties honored for first place gross and net only. All other ties will be decided by matching cards in accordance with USGA recommended method. Prize certificates to be used at host club.
DECISIONS BY THE COMMITTEE IN ATTENDANCE ARE FINAL.
