POLICIES, PROCEDURES, & GUIDELINES:
Prior to participating, all participants must review the SCGA’s Policies & Procedures and COVID-19 Guidelines for Competitions.
FORMAT:
All players will participate in an 18-hole stroke play round. One 4-team “group” will play a 16 point game (7, 5, 3, 1) at the California Scratch League Championship, with one club ultimately being crowned as the 2020 California Scratch League Champion. All play is without handicaps except for seeding the pairing order from low current handicap index to high index as of the November 30th revision. Pros will tee off first. Stroke Play rules apply.

REGISTRATION:
There will be no formal registration at this event. All paperwork (scorecards, hole locations, notice to players) will be passed out at the starting tent on the first hole prior to you teeing off.
STARTING TIMES & PAIRINGS:
- Starting times will range from 7:30 a.m. to approximately 8:30 a.m.
- Players are encouraged to arrive at their assigned tee well in advance of their starting time, as the SCGA starter will have information to discuss with each player in the group. Furthermore, players arriving late will be penalized under Rule 5.3a of the Rules of Golf. For example, the 9:00 a.m. starting time is defined as 9:00:00, and players arriving after that time are considered late. Lead groups should plan to be at their assigned tee 10 minutes in advance of their starting time. Subsequent groups are encouraged to arrive once the preceding group has teed off.
TEES & YARDAGE:
- Play will be from the BLACK yardage. Course Rating: 75 / Slope: 135 / Approx. 7,159 yards / Par: 72.
PRACTICE ROUNDS:
- Players may make arrangements for practice rounds at their own expense by calling Sandpiper GC at (805) 552-6724. Practice rounds are available on a space available basis.
DRIVING RANGE:
- The driving range will be CLOSED on the day of the Championship.
- Players should arrive on site no earlier than a half hour prior to their starting time.
FOOD SERVICE & PURCHASES:
- The Restaurant will be available by 8 a.m. for to-go orders only.
- Major credit/debit cards and cash will be accepted for all purchases.
RULES OF PLAY:
- Players must familiarize themselves with the SCGA’s COVID-19 Guidelines for Competitions.
- The Rules of Golf as approved by the USGA and The R&A govern play.
- Local Rules and Terms of the Competition can be found on the SCGA Hard Card and the Notice to Players that will be emailed to players the day prior to the Championship.

AUTOMOTIVE TRANSPORTATION, PULL/PUSH CARTS:
- Automotive transportation is available for all players in the event. Every player is granted a single-rider cart.
- Given single-rider cart restrictions due to COVID-19, each player will get their own cart and may strap their bags to the back of it.
CADDIES & SPECTATORS:
- Caddies are prohibited until further notice.
- Spectators are permitted but are not allowed in carts. Spectators must adhere to all policies set forth by the club and must maintain social distancing at all times.
DRESS CODE:
- Players must be properly attired in golf shirts, slacks, Bermuda-length dress or golf shorts and soft spike shoes.
- Shirts must be tucked in and hats must be worn forward.
- Jeans (any color or any kind), T-shirts, and tank tops are prohibited.
TIE-BREAKING:
In case of a tie between two teams at the end of the competition, the teams tied will select two players to play a sudden-death aggregate playoff immediately following the conclusion of play. Play will be in one group of four using the 16-point game format. After completion of the first playoff hole, the highest point total of both teammates will determine who moves on. If still tied, all players will continue on to an additional sudden-death playoff hole(s).
In case of a tie between three teams at the end competition, the teams tied will select three players to play a sudden-death aggregate playoff immediately following the conclusion of play. Play will be in three groups of three using the 9-point game format. After completion of the first playoff hole, the highest point total of all three teammates will determine who moves on. If all teams are still tied after the first playoff hole, all players from those teams will continue on to an additional sudden-death playoff hole(s). If two teams are still tied after the first playoff hole (or additional playoff holes), the teams tied will select two players to play the next playoff hole(s) using the 16-point game format.
