Player Information Sheet & Local Rules

 

 

History of the LaBonte Four Ball Tournament: The “Eleanor I. LaBonte” tournament originated in 1950. In February of 1972 it officially became the “The Eleanor I. LaBonte” tournament. Miss LaBonte served as Executive Secretary for over 25 years and was Handicap Chairperson for 33 years. In 2020 the event officially became the “LaBonte Four Ball Tournament”. The 2019 Low Gross Winners were Christine Gagner and Rita Bedard of Bedrock Golf Club and the 2019 Low Net Winners were Cathy Sessions and Cheryl Krueger.

 

Rules of Golf: The USGA Rules of Golf, Local Rules and Terms of Competitions for Mass Golf Tournaments govern all play.

 

Mass Golf Policies & Procedures: Please refer to Policies & Procedures in Response to Covid 19, Policies & Procedures and Pace of Play Policy. Mask requirement still in effect at range and practice green.

 

Format: Teams of two play their own ball and hole out on every hole. At the end of each hole the two person team writes down the best person’s score on that hole (gross) and the best handicapped score on that hole (net). Each golfer’s handicap dots will be put on their scorecard for reference.  

 

Divisions: Gross and Net Divisions.

 

Handicaps:  85% Player Handicap. Indexes computed on October 1st, 2020.

 

Scorecards: Paper scorecards will be provided to all participants for the player’s own notes. All paper scorecards are considered UNOFFICIAL. Do NOT exchange scorecards at any time. Online/Mobile Scoring via USGA Tournament Management. Prior to the Tournament, players should download the USGA Tournament Management App. Click HERE for mobile scoring instructions. Click HERE to download the App. Enter Gross scores only. Net will be calculated by the App. After all gross scores are entered for a Hole, click “Save Scores”. Only one person from the foursome is responsible for inputting scores in the App and another is responsible for the unofficial written scorecard. These will be two golfers from different teams and is up to each foursome who those individuals will be. Mass Golf will NOT be posting player’s scores.

Distance -Measuring Devices: Permitted as specified in Mass Golf Championship Policies & Procedures.

 

Practice Areas: Players are first allowed on practice areas withing 45 minutes of their tee time. The suggested flow should begin with the practice range, then to the practice putting green/short game area for the remainder of time before reporting to the tee. Players will need to report to the first tee 10 minutes before their tee time.

Hole #1: right side before green and pond left

Ground under Repair:

Marked by white lines and/or circles. All newly sodded and seeded areas and flower beds are deemed ground under repair and relief MUST be taken.

                                                                                                           

Flagsticks: Flagsticks may be removed during the course of play by player. 

 

Bunker Relief: Bunker rakes will be on the course. Players will have the option to take a preferred lie in all bunkers. A ball that comes to rest in the bunker may be marked, lifted, cleaned and dropped one club length no closer to the hole and come to rest within the relief area within the bunker. The area in which a player intends to drop may not be improved in any way. Players are expected to smooth all footprints (unkept areas) with the bunker rakes, their foot, club or other device to the best of their ability after they hit their shot.

 

Bathrooms: Located in the clubhouse on the first floor, through the doors and on the right. Bathrooms are also located outside the golf shop. On the course bathrooms are located between the 4th and 5th holes and by hole #14 tee.

 

Drinking Water: Players must provide their own water as water coolers will not be available.

 

Beverage Cart: The beverage cart will be available for non-alcoholic beverages and will be CASH ONLY. An ATM will be available in the clubhouse.

 

Lunch: Deli boxed lunch. Options are tuna wrap, chicken salad wrap or turkey and cheese wrap. Cup of soup chef special, chocolate chip cookie and bottled water or soda included. Lunch will be available for pick up at the back of the clubhouse by the golf shop after golf.

 

Scoring: At the end of the round all scores must be verified by the foursome before you have one designated scorekeeper report to the scoring tent. The designated scorekeeper is the ONLY individual that needs to report to the scoring tent. All other players must not congregate near the scoring area. Mass Golf staff will verify with each designated scorekeeper that their scores are accurate and will take a verbal yes as a confirmation/signature as this will be a no touch process.

 

Awards: Trophy engraved with names of gross winners.  Ties honored for first place gross only. All other ties will be decided by matching cards in accordance with USGA recommended method. Prize certificates to be used at host club.
