PLEASE READ BEFORE SIGNING UP TO PLAY!!!
Iowa Junior Amateur contestants, parents & guardians,
As you prepare to play in or as you consider entering to play in the upcoming Iowa Junior Amateur Championship, we want to make you aware of a few policies and procedures that will be in place.
The event is scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, June 17 & 18 at Spirit Hollow Golf Course in Burlington.
-
Liability Waiver - all players/parents will be asked to sign a liability waiver form showing that you recognize the risks of participating in, or allowing your child to participate in, the Iowa Junior Amateur Championship in 2020. We will email that form out with the pairings on Thurs, June 11th. You can return that back to us via email, or print it and bring it with you to Spirit Hollow or we will have printouts available on site the day you play.
-
Caddies - are not allowed at the Junior Amateur Championship (this is not a change from previous years)
-
Parents, Guardians, Spectators - We are asking that only one parent or guardian be on site per entrant during the championship. This helps us to limit the amount of people we may need to shelter in the event of a weather event.
-
Hand Sanitizers and disinfectant wipes - We will have these on hand for players at the championship but we encourage you to bring your own.
-
Golf Carts - We will allow spectator carts but we encourage only one person to ride on the cart at all times, except in the event of a course evacuation due to weather. You will need to pay Spirit Hollow a cart fee if you wish to take a spectator cart.
-
Weather Delays - In the event of a delay due to inclement weather such as severe rain or lightning, we will ask that players and parents shelter in their vehicles. We will have a place to shelter if there is a threat of a tornado. We will ask parents/guardians who take a spectator cart to help shuttle their child off the golf course if there is a suspension of play. Having kids ride in individually with their parent/guardian can help maintain physical distancing guidelines.
-
Bunkers - will most likely be played with normal bunker rules applying even though rakes will not be on the golf course. In addition to preparing the bunkers each morning, our rules officials will be equipped with sanitized rakes which they will use to keep bunkers cleaned up throughout the day.
-
Holes & Flagsticks - we are planning to play with foam noodles in the bottom of the hole, sunk about 1.5-2” below the surface so that a ball can still be holed. We will not allow players to remove the flagstick.
If any of these policies mean that you do not feel comfortable playing this year we understand that and respect that decision. If you have already signed up to play and would like to withdraw please send an email to nate@iowagolf.org and we will process a full refund (do not do a refund yourself online as that will keep a service fee and not be a full refund).
If you know of anyone who is still thinking of signing up, the deadline to enter is Wednesday, June 10th at 11:59 p.m. You can sign click the blue button at left (reminder that a player must have a player profile set up in our system to complete the online registration. If one needs to set up a player profile go here: https://iowagolf.org/online-registration/)
Thank you for your support of the IGA and the upcoming Iowa Junior Amateur Championships. Please let us know if you have any questions.
