Handicap Index Limit: 14.0 (as of July 15, 2020 revision)
CHAMPIONSHIP/QUALIFYING INFORMATION:
The Women’s Amateur, Women’s Mid-Amateur, and Junior Girls' Championships will be conducted concurrently. The entry fee of $170.00 subsidizes entry into both championships (Am/Mid-Am or Am/Junior), where applicable. A player age twenty-five (25) and above (as of July 27, 2020) is eligible for both competitions and will automatically be placed into both fields unless she notifies the NJSGA otherwise (see below). A player age eighteen (18) and younger is eligible for both competitions and will be placed in both fields if she registers for the Amateur.
Women’s Amateur Championship: A thirty-six (36) hole, Stroke Play qualifying round consisting of eighteen (18)-holes on Monday, July 27 and eighteen (18)-holes on Tuesday, July 28 will determine placement into the Match Play championship to consist of sixteen (16) players. Any ties for the final qualifying place(s)into Match Play shall be decided by a hole-by-hole playoff which will begin immediately upon the completion of Tuesday’s play. The round of 16 and quarterfinal rounds of Match Play will be held on Wednesday, July 29; the semifinal matches and championship match will be held on Thursday, July 30. All matches are eighteen (18) holes.
Women’s Mid-Amateur Championship: The thirty-six (36) hole, stroke play qualifying round for the Amateur Championship will coincidentally serve as the Mid-Amateur Championship. The Mid-Amateur Champion will be the player age twenty-five (25)and above with the lowest 36-hole gross score. In the event of a tie for the championship, a hole-by-hole playoff will be held to determine the champion. Players age twenty-five (25) and above will automatically be placed into the Mid-Amateur Championship. A Mid-Amateur Player may: 1) Compete in both the Amateur and Mid-Amateur Championships; 2) Compete in only the Mid-Amateur Championship. A player who chooses to compete in only the Mid-Amateur Championship (and not the Match Play portion of the Amateur Championship) must notify the NJSGA no later than the close of entries date on WEDNESDAY, JULY 15, 2020 at 5:00 p.m.
Junior Girls' Championship: The thirty-six (36) hole, stroke play qualifying round for the Amateur Championship will coincidentally serve as the Junior Girls' Championship. The Junior Girls' Champion will be the player age eighteen (18) and younger, and not yet enrolled in college, with the lowest 36-hole gross score. In the event of a tie for the championship, a hole-by-hole playoff will be held to determine the champion. Players age eighteen (18) and younger will automatically be placed into the Junior Girls' Championship. A Junior Player may: 1) Compete in both the Amateur and Junior Girls' Championships; 2) Compete in only the Junior Girl's Championship (for reduced fee). A player who chooses to compete in only the Junior Girls' Championship (and not the Match Play portion of the Amateur Championship) must only enter the Junior Girls division. These two dates also constitue the Women's Mid-Amateur Championship.
ELIGIBILITY:
Entries are open to female amateur golfers who meet ALL of the following:
-Entrant must possess UNQUESTIONABLE Amateur Status.
-Entrant meet ALL of these Handicap and Membership Requirements:
- Hold a USGA Handicap Index of 14.0 or less, as of the July 15, 2020 Handicap Revision at a NJSGA member club/course. She must be listed on this club’s Handicap Roster.
- Maintain good standing and remain on the above Handicap Roster through the Championship proper.
-If entering from a public facility, or Club Without Real Estate, entrant must be a permanent resident of New Jersey. Proof of residency may be required.
Transportation: Motorized transportation is PROHIBITED throughout this Championship.
Caddies: Permitted; a player may bring her own caddie, reserve a club caddie, or carry her own bag. A player who selects to play in the Junior Girls' only cannot have a Parent act as a caddie.
Pull/Push Carts: Refer to specific Notice to Players for host club’s policy.
IMPORTANT EQUIPMENT NOTICE - THE GROOVE & PUNCH MARK SPECIFICATIONS (Decision 4-1/1) ARE IN EFFECT FOR THIS COMPETITION.
PRIZES:
Amateur Championship: The Women’s New Jersey State Championship Cup will be presented to the Champion, engraved with her name, and displayed at her home club. Prizes awarded to the match play semifinalists, runner-up and stroke play medalist.
Mid-Amateur Championship: The NJSGA Championship trophy will be presented to the Champion, engraved with her name, and displayed at her home club. Prizes awarded to the Champion and runner-up.
Junior Girls' Championship: The Helen Hawes Championship trophy will be presented to the Champion, engraved with her name, and displayed at her home club. Prizes awarded to the Champion and runner-up.
FINAL DECISION REGARDING ACCEPTANCE OF ENTRIES IS AT THE DISCRETION OF THENJSGA. THE NJSGA RESERVES THE RIGHT TO REJECT OR WITHDRAW AN ENTRY AT ANY TIME,BEFORE OR DURING A COMPETITION OR MODIFY THE CHAMPIONSHIP PROGRAM ANYTIME, IN ITS DISCRETION.
