Eligibility: Entries are open to male and female amateur golfers with an active GHIN Handicap index through a WVGA Member Club. One player must be "Regular Members" of the West Virginia Golf Association as determined by the Residency policy. Please Reference WVGA Policies and Procedures for further details.
Format: The championship will be 27 holes of Stroke Play with multiple formats.
Day 1: Nine holes Friday evening with tee times starting at 3:30pm. This 9 holes will have multiple formats including: Scramble, Shamble, Combined Score, Four-Ball and Modified Alternate Shot
Day 2: 18 holes Saturday morning with tee times starting at 8:00am. Front Nine will be Four-Ball and Back Nine will be a Scramble.
Flights: The field will be seperated into equal flights following the end of the tournament. Ties for flights will be broken by the USGA Tie Breaking Method (Back 9 total for Day 2, last 6 holes, last 3 holes, hole by hole).
Field Size: The maximum field size is 100 players (50 Teams). Will be flighted upon completion depending on number of entries.
Practice Round: Players are instructed to make tee times through the golf shop by calling 304-866-4122. Practice rounds will be at the VIP card rate of $35 M-Th and $55 on weekends.
Player Registration: There will be no formal registration. Players will register on their starting tee.
Caddies: Caddies are permitted during the championship. Players are responsible for supplying their own caddie. Caddies may ride in golf carts if it adheres to the WVGA cart policy and their is an available seat. * WVGA Cart Policy - there will be a maximum of 2 carts per group and 2 individuals per cart. *
Pairings: Pairings for Round 1 will be released and updated on the WVGA website by Thursday August 13th.
Awards / Gift Certificates: The champions in each division will receive trophies. Top finishers in each division will receive gift certificates.
Electronic Measuring Devices: Electronic devices that measure distance only are permitted for this championship.
USGA Groove Condition of Competition (Not in Effect): The USGA groove rules effective January 1, 2010 are NOT in effect for this competition.
Withdrawal Policy: In the event of a tournament withdraw; the player must notify the West Virginia Golf Association Office at 304-391-5000 no later than one week prior to the tournament. If withdraw is made prior to tournament deadline, the player may receive a refund regardless of reason less a $20 administrative fee. For a withdraw made after the entry deadline, the player may receive a refund only if player has experienced a sudden illness or injury, and only if the West Virginia Golf Association is notified prior to the first round of the tournament. All refund request must be submitted in writing to Chris Slack.
