116th Philadelphia Open Championship
Doylestown Country Club, Doylestown, Pa.
October 5-6, 2020
Registration Fee: $135/Amateurs, $185/Professionals for the championship.
Format: 36-hole individual stroke play, two-day event. There will not be a cut for the second round.
Eligibility: Open to an Invitiation list of professionals who are active members of the Philadelphia Section PGA in good standing (the A-4 classification is not eligible), head professionals of GAP Member Clubs, assistant professionals of Member Clubs who are active members of the New Jersey Section PGA and amateurs who are members of GAP Member Clubs and have a Handicap Index of 7.0 or less.
Field Size: The field of approximately 78 players will consist of Invited players.
Practice Rounds: Practice rounds have been canceled for 2020.
Starting Times: Morning times beginning at 7:45 a.m. starting on Nos. 1 tee only. Tee times the second day will be from No. 1 only in order of highest score to lowest score. Requests for second day tee times will not be granted.
Automotive Transportaton: All players are permitted to take single rider carts. GAP will pay facilities and bill players electronically through Golf Genius. If there is a Junior who is in the field and not of age, a parent/escort/chaperone is permitted to drive the cart. If carts are not permitted due to weather, then the event will continue as a walking event. A reminder, there will still be no caddies allowed.
Caddies – Not permitted.
Spectators – Spectators will not be permitted; except that any player who requires assistance in transportation to the tournament site or who requires assistance in driving a golf cart during the competition is permitted to authorize one and not more than one person to spectate at the event or, if applicable, but only if such person is a member of the player’s immediate family and living in the same household as the player, to operate the player’s golf cart during the competition; provided that in all such circumstances such person may not provide any assistance to the player, may not indicate the line of play, may not handle the player’s clubs or equipment, and may not otherwise provide any services normally provided by a caddie.
Prizes: Amateurs: 1st thru 5th low gross. Professionals: Guaranteed purse of $10,000.
Ties: Four-hole playoff for Championship. Duplicate prizes for ties for 1st low amateur or 2nd low amateur, prize money to be broken by using the USGA recommended scorecard tiebreaking method. Professional money prizes to be split.
Travel Restrictions: the Association may change the venue based on travel restrictions in different states.
