ELIGIBILITY

The Senior Club Team Championship features four-man teams consisting of players all from the same golf club, all aged 55 or older as of May 18, 2020. As is such, all players must be in good standing of the same MSGA member club on or before the date they submit their application. All players must be enrolled in the 2020 MSGA Men's Player Program to apply.

ENTRY INFORMATION

All teams must file an entry for the championship. Players may apply for the championship either online at www.mesga.org or by paper application. Entries will not be taken over the phone.

The field is limited to 34 teams. If the field fills up, a maximum of two teams per club will be allowed. Clubs with more than two teams applying to play will be chosen by taking the two teams with the lowest combined Handicap Index. The MSGA has the final say in determining the field.

Substitutions will be allowed as long as the substituted player meets the eligibility requirements as outlined above.

An entry form where any player on the side is not active in GHIN at the home club, or is not enrolled in the 2020 MSGA Men's Player Program, will be considered incomplete.

UPDATE on 8/31/2020: The Club Team Championship is played at Belgrade Lakes every year and is always a full field event. Due to the pandemic, this event was moved from May to September this year. With less daylight in the fall, we are limited on the number of teams that can play in this year's event.

As a result, the Tournament Committee has decided to take the 33 teams with the lowest aggregate handicap that sign up with no more than two teams from any one course. This means that a course may not have an automatic entry in this year's field if it's not one of the low 33 teams. We apologize for this late change, however, the Tournament Committee feels it's important to have the best possible teams in the field playing for the championship.

Cost: The entry fee for the championship is $240 per team.

Entry deadline for all teams is September 10, 2020 at 5:00 pm.

Players are reminded to apply early to allow time for resolving any errors, an incomplete application, or for not adhering to the eligibility as prescribed above.

SCHEDULE OF EVENTS

The championship will consist of 18 holes of stroke play. Players will play their own ball, with the two low gross and net scores counting for each hole.

Monday, September 28: First round, 18 holes

In the event of a two-way tie, both teams will be deemed co-champions.

If more than two teams tie, a tie-breaker will decide the winner using Rule 33-6.

PRIZES

Winner: Crystal trophy for every member of the team.

Top finishers: Prize money, determined by finishing position, in the form of a voucher added to their MSGA account. Prizes will be awarded for both gross and net divisions.

RULES OF GOLF

All play will be governed by The Rules of Golf as approved by the USGA, except as modified by Local Rules. The on-site Rules Committee will have the final authority on all rulings. The competition is deemed to be closed when the trophy is awarded to the champion.

TRANSPORTATION

Players will be allowed to use motorized carts in the championship. Carts may be limited at certain sites, so players are encouraged to call the host club ahead of time to reserve a cart.

WITHDRAWAL AND REFUND POLICY

Advanced entry fees will be refunded regardless of reason if the MSGA is notified before the close of entries. The MSGA will refund all of the entry fee, less $5, to cover processing fees and associated costs. Refunds of entries made by credit or debit card will be applied to that same card, in keeping with proper merchant processing protocol. After the close of entries, fees will be refunded only if the tournament remains full or in the event of injury or illness. No refunds will be given after the start of the tournament. Unusual circumstances will be considered individually.

STARTING TIMES

After the application deadline, starting times will be posted at www.mesga.org, as well as emailed to all players in the field. Starting times will be made public no less than four days before the tournament begins.

CONDITIONS AND SCHEDULES

The MSGA Tournament Committee/on-site Rules Committee reserves the right to alter any of the conditions, provisions, and/or schedules herein. The decision of the Tournament Committee/on-site Rules Committee in any matter is final.
