2nd VSGA Super Senior Women's Amateur Championship

Defending Champions: Mimi Hoffman (Senior), Dot Bolling (Super Senior)

ELIGIBILITY

Senior: Open to female golfers who will be at least 50 years of age by September 14, 2020.
Super Senior: Open to female golfers who will be at least 65 years of age by September 14, 2020.

 

All participants must hold an active GHIN number issued by a licensed VSGA Member Club in good standing and meet the USGA Rules of Amateur Status. For additional information see the VSGA Championship and Tournament Eligibility Guidelines.

 

ENTRY FEE/DEADLINE

All participants are required to pay an entry fee of $235 which includes all course fees (including cart) for the qualifying round and the first two rounds of match play. In addition, the VSGA will negotiate a discounted practice round fee with the host club. A completed entry form, accompanied by the entry fee must be received in the VSGA office by Monday, August 31, 2020.

 

FORMAT

Senior: 18-hole stroke play qualifying to determine flights and/or seeding for match play. Players must choose whether they wish to attempt to qualify for the Championship flight or not.  The low 16 scorers of those players attempting to qualify for the Championship flight are placed in the Championship flight and are seeded by qualifying score (all players attempting to qualify for the Championship flight must complete the qualifying round).  Remaining players will be flighted by Handicap Index as of the day of the deadline and seeded within flights by qualifying score if the qualifying round is completed by all players in a given flight. If all players in a given flight do not complete the qualifying round, players in that flight will be seeded by Handicap Index. Those players losing their first-round match will be placed in a consolation flight.

 

Championship Proper

September 14 – Stroke play qualifying

September 15 – Round of 16 matches

September 16 – Quarterfinal matches (consolation matches begin)

September 17 – Semifinal matches

September 18 – Final matches

FIELD SIZE/TOURNAMENT MAKE-UP

Senior: The field will be limited to 56 players.
Super Senior: The field will be limited to 24 players.

 

If the number of entries exceeds the maximum allowable entrants, the field will be determined by low Handicap Index as of the deadline.  A waiting list will be maintained if more players apply than the field size.  Those entrants on the waiting list as of the deadline will be prioritized by Handicap Index.  All entrants after the deadline will be prioritized by date received.  The Committee reserves the right to adjust the field and flight size based on the number of entries received, if necessary.

 

PRIZES

Senior: The overall champion will have their name engraved on The Presidents’ Cup and the medalist’s name will be engraved on the Belle Allen Trophy. A VSGA medal will be awarded to the medalist. All flight winners and finalists, including consolation flights, will be awarded prizes. In addition, there will be a prize for the low net of the field. Players will receive 95% of their handicap.

 

Super Senior: Prizes will be awarded to the overall champion and finalist. A VSGA medal will be awarded to the medalist. A prize will also be awarded to the club that has the most players competing in both events (senior and super senior combined).
