COVID-19 CHAMPIONSHIP POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

All contestants should be familiar with the policies and procedures in place.

 

COVID-19 CHAMPIONSHIP PARTICIPANT WAIVER

All contestants MUST sign the participant waiver prior to arriving at the championship. The waiver will be emailed to all contestants to sign digitally using DocuSign.

 

FIELD LIMIT

Field will be limited to 60 qualified Seniors and 30 qualified Super Seniors. At the close of entry, the field will be filled by the lowest USGA Handicap Indexes in addition to exempt players.

 

ENTRY DEADLINE

Entry applications, along with the appropriate fee, must be completed or received by WA Golf by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, August 31, 2020.

 

REFUND POLICY

Refunds will not be available after Round 1 pairings are released unless replaced by a player on the waiting list. *Refunds due to COVID-19 will be granted up until a player begins the championship.

 

COURSE YARDAGE

Course yardage is subject to change based on weather/course conditions. Hole-by-hole yardages are HERE. Senior Course Yardage: 6,522 yards, par-72. Super Senior Course Yardage: 6,078 yards, par-72.

 

LODGING

ONSITE REGISTRATION

All contestants must register in person with WA Golf at Walla Walla Country Club prior to starting round one play. Registration will be located in the breezeway outside the golf shop during the following times:

MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 21: 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 22: 7:30 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.    

 

STARTING TIMES AND PAIRINGS

Round one and two starting times will be released two weeks prior on September 8. Contestants will be re-paired by gross scores for the final round, with the leaders starting last. Preferred starting time requests will not be accepted. Starting times will be posted on the WA Golf website (WAgolf.org), on the Championship Portal and will be emailed to each player.

 

SCHEDULE

54-hole stroke play competition (gross scores only). The Senior Men’s and Super Senior Men’s Amateur Championships are separate but run concurrently. In the event of a tie for the overall champion in either championship, a sudden-death playoff will be used to determine the champion immediately after the conclusion of play.

 

TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 22 – Round 1

Senior: 8:00 a.m. – 11:10 a.m.
Super Senior: 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.   

 

WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 23 – Round 2

Super Senior: 8:00 a.m. – 9:30 a.m.
Senior: 9:50 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.   

 

THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 24 – Round 3
Players will be re-paired by 36-hole scores, with the leaders starting last. 

Senior: 8:00 a.m. – 11:10 a.m.
Super Senior: 11:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.   

Awards ceremony will begin immediately upon completion of play in each championship.

 

PRACTICE ROUND

Contestants may play one complimentary practice round prior to the championship. Starting times can be made by calling the Walla Walla Country Club pro shop at (509) 525-1562 starting on September 1 after the field is determined. When making reservations, contestants must identify themselves as a Washington Senior Men's or Super Senior Men’s Amateur Championship participant. All practice round starting times are at the discretion of the host club staff.

 

FOOD SERVICE (NO-HOST)

The golf shop has snacks and beverages available for purchase. The restaurant will be open from 11:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. each day.

 

BOTTLED WATER

Due to COVID-19, bottled water may be available at limited locations on the golf course for players only (a notification will be sent out prior to the championship with a hydration plan). Snacks and fruit will not be provided. Players are encouraged to bring their own bottled water.

 

HOSTED LUNCH

WA Golf will host one player lunch. Details TBD.

 

METHODS OF PAYMENT

Walla Walla Country Club accepts all major credit cards and cash as methods of payment.

 

HOURS OF OPERATION

The golf shop and driving range will be open each day from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.

 

RANGE BALLS

Range balls will be provided to contestants on the driving range each day from 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

 

CARTS

Carts will be available for $17 per rider per day and will be collected by WA Golf during registration. Due to COVID-19 Policies, all carts will be one player per cart. Please contact WA Golf if you did not register for a cart during registration but would now like to add one. Carts will not be guaranteed for players who do not make a reservation.

  

SPECTATOR CARTS

To provide an equal championship platform for all competitors, the use of carts by spectators is not permitted by WA Golf. 

 

CHAMPIONSHIP ACCOMMODATIONS FOR DISABLED SPECTATORS

WA Golf is committed to providing an enjoyable spectator experience for people with disabilities at WA Golf Championships. Requests from spectators seeking transportation onto the golf course due to a permanent disability, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), should be submitted one week in advance to the WA Golf Championship Department. While spectator carts may not always be available at each site, WA Golf will make every effort to accommodate these requests when available. 

 

Generally, an ADA covered disability is defined as a “physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more of the major life activities of the individual”. See, 42 USCA §12102. Spectators with a “temporary” injury or impairment that is not an ADA disability will not be allowed use of a golf cart under this Policy.

 

Spectators with transportation needs must contact the WA Golf Championship Department prior to the championship. This full policy is available at the following link: wagolf.org/policies.

 

PULL CARTS

A limited number of pull carts will be available for use at no charge.

 

CADDIES

Host club caddies will not be available. A player may provide his own caddie. Caddies will be required to wear a caddie bib provided on the starting tee.

 

PRIZES

All prizes will be awarded according to 54-hole scores (gross only)

        Champion: Trophy and merchandise credit; Runner-up: Trophy and merchandise credit; Other top finishers: Merchandise credit

 

Merchandise credit must be redeemed in the Walla Walla Country Club golf shop.
NOTE: Merchandise credit must be used by September 30, 2021.

 

Crystal awards will also be given to any contestant who scores a hole-in-one or eagle during the championship. 

 

AWARDS CEREMONY

An awards ceremony will take place near the scoring table immediately following the completion of play in both championships. Trophies and merchandise credit will be awarded at this time.

 

EXEMPTIONS

The 2020 Washington Senior Men’s Amateur Champion will receive an exemption into the 2021-2025 Washington Senior Men’s Amateur Championships, the 2021 Washington Men’s Amateur Championship and the 2021 PNGA Senior Men’s Amateur Championship.

 

The 2020 Washington Super Senior Men’s Amateur Champion will receive an exemption into the 2021-2025 Washington Super Senior Men’s Amateur Championships and the 2021 PNGA Super Senior Men’s Amateur Championship. 

 

The 2020 Washington Senior Amateur and Super Senior Amateur Champions will also receive an exemption into the 2021 Washington Champion of Champions.

 

SENIOR HUDSON CUP EXEMPTION

The 2020 Washington Senior Men’s Amateur Champion will be extended an invitation to compete as a member of the Senior Amateur Team during the 72nd Hudson Cup Matches at Meadow Springs Country Club, in Richland, WA on October 22-23, 2020.

 

PERFORMANCE POINTS LIST

Points for the WA Golf Senior Men’s Amateur are allocated as follows: Champion, 60 points; Runner-up, 35 points; Top 5 players, 20 points each; Top 10 players, 10 points each.

 

GHIN SCORE POSTING

WA Golf will post competition scores for all players to the USGA GHIN System. 

 

STROKE LIMIT POLICY

Players must return a score within 15 strokes of the course rating in at least one of the three rounds. Failure to do so will disqualify the player from entering the Washington Senior or Super Men’s Amateur Championship for a minimum of one year.

 

DRESS CODE

Players and caddies must be neat in appearance with respect to personal grooming and clothing while on host club property. The WA Golf Dress Code Policy is available at the following link: wagolf.org/policies and will be provided to all players, along with any additional measures required by the host club, in the Player Memorandum.

 

CODE OF CONDUCT

WA Golf expects all contestants, caddies, gallery, and guests to exhibit proper conduct and behavior on the golf course and anywhere on club property during a WA Golf Championship. Unbecoming conduct or behavior may be grounds for immediate disqualification, at any time, from any WA Golf event. The following are some examples of unbecoming conduct or behavior:

 

  • Repeated use of loud, abusive, and/or profane language
  • Throwing and/or breaking equipment (club, ball, etc.) in anger or frustration
  • Damaging host club, WA Golf, and/or fellow contestant property
  • Public criticism or verbal abuse of host club, officials, volunteers or staff, and/or WA Golf volunteers, staff or fellow contestants
  • Potential endangerment of others
  • Intentionally violating stated club policy
  • Violation of WA Golf Dress Code and/or Footwear Policy
  • Other conduct deemed unbecoming
  • The Committee in charge of the competition shall be the sole judge of determining Conduct Code violations.
     

UNOFFICIAL WITHDRAWAL

After the entry deadline and during play of the championship, players must notify WA Golf and state his need to withdraw. Entrants who unofficially withdraw (by not notifying WA Golf or without having sufficient reason) will not be granted entry into any future WA Golf Championship for a minimum of two years.

 

PACE OF PLAY POLICY

Players are encouraged to be familiar with WA Golf’s Pace of Play Policy, which is in effect at all championships.

 

LOCAL RULES AND TERMS OF THE COMPETITION

Players are encouraged to be familiar with WA Golf’s 2020 Local Rules and Terms of the Competition, which will be in effect at all championships.

 

PROHIBITED USE OF AUDIO EQUIPMENT

Rule 4.3 is modified in this way: During a round, a player is not allowed to use an electronic device to listen to music or other audio (such as podcasts or the like), including by using speakers, headphones or earbuds. Penalty for breach of Local Rule - see Rule 4.3.
