COVID-19 CHAMPIONSHIP POLICIES AND PROCEDURES

All contestants should be familiar with the policies and procedures in place.

 

COVID-19 CHAMPIONSHIP PARTICIPANT WAIVER

All contestants MUST sign the participant waiver prior to arriving at the championship. The waiver will be emailed to all contestants to sign digitally using DocuSign.

 

FIELD LIMIT

Field will be limited to the first 120 qualified players. Entries will be accepted according to the time of receipt of entry and entry fee in addition to exempt players.

 

ENTRY DEADLINE

Entry applications, along with the appropriate fee, must be completed or received by WA Golf by 4:30 p.m. on Monday, August 10, 2020.

 

REFUND POLICY

Refunds will not be available after Round 1 pairing are released unless replaced by a player on the waiting list. *Refunds due to COVID-19 will be granted up until a player begins the championship.
 

COURSE YARDAGE

Course yardage is subject to change based on weather/course conditions. Hole-by-hole yardages are posted on the portal HERE.

Course Yardage: 6,735 yards, par-72

 

LODGING

To book a hotel reservation, please use the following link - HOTEL RESERVATIONS. You will be prompted to login or create an account using your GHIN #, which will allow you access to the site where you can search hotels, by proximity to the course at a large discount. 

 

ONSITE REGISTRATION

All contestants must register in person with WA Golf at McCormick Woods Golf Club prior to starting round one play. Registration will be located outside the golf shop during the following times:

WEDNESDAY, AUGUST 26: 11:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

THURSDAY, AUGUST 27: 7:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.       

 

STARTING TIMES AND PAIRINGS

Round one starting times will be released two weeks prior on August 13. Contestants will be re-paired by gross scores for the final round, with the leaders starting last. Preferred starting time requests will not be accepted. Starting times will be posted on the WA Golf website (WAgolf.org), on the Championship Portal and will be emailed to each player.

 

SCHEDULE

36-hole stroke play (gross only). Players will be flighted based on course handicap. In the event of a tie for the Championship, a hole-by-hole playoff will be held immediately following play to determine the winner.

THURSDAY, AUGUST 27: Starting times from 7:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

FRIDAY, AUGUST 28: Starting times from 7:30 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.
 

PRACTICE ROUND

All players will be allowed one complimentary practice round prior to the Championship. Practice rounds may be played anytime on weekdays and after 12:00 p.m. on weekends. Local contestants are encouraged to play their practice round anytime during the weeks prior. Consideration will be made for out-of-town players with regard to reserved starting times the day prior to the championship. Contestants can reserve practice round times directly through the McCormick Woods GC golf shop at (360) 895-0130, beginning on Tuesday, August 11 after the entry deadline. All practice round times are at the discretion of the host club. When making reservations, contestants must identify themselves as a WA Golf Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship participant.

 

FOOD SERVICE (NO-HOST)

The Coffee Shop located between #9 green and #10 tee will be open each day from 6:00 a.m. to dusk with grab-and-go options. The Clubhouse Restaurant and Bar will be open each day from 11:00 a.m. – 9:00 p.m. with full menu service.

 

BOTTLED WATER

Due to COVID-19, bottled water may be available at limited locations on the golf course for players only (a notification will be sent out prior to the championship with a hydration plan). Snacks and fruit will not be provided. Players are encouraged to bring their own bottled water.

 

HOSTED LUNCH

Lunch will be hosted for all contestants following the final round on Friday, August 28 inside the McCormick Woods Restaurant from 12:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Players will order off a limited menu.

 

METHODS OF PAYMENT

McCormick Woods Golf Club accepts all major credit cards and cash as methods of payment.

 

HOURS OF OPERATION

The golf shop and driving range will be open each day from 6:00 a.m. to dusk.

 

RANGE BALLS

Warm up range balls will be provided to contestants on the driving range before to each round from 6:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

 

CARTS

Players and caddies may ride in a golf cart. Cart fees are $20 per seat/day. Fees will be collected during registration. Please contact WA Golf if you did not register for a cart during registration but would now like to add one. Cart riders will be paired up within each group when possible. Carts will not be guaranteed for players who do not make a reservation during registration.

  

SPECTATOR CARTS

To provide an equal championship platform for all competitors, the use of carts by spectators is not permitted by WA Golf. 

 

CHAMPIONSHIP ACCOMMODATIONS FOR DISABLED SPECTATORS

WA Golf is committed to providing an enjoyable spectator experience for people with disabilities at WA Golf Championships. Requests from spectators seeking transportation onto the golf course due to a permanent disability, as defined under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), should be submitted one week in advance to the WA Golf Championship Department. While spectator carts may not always be available at each site, WA Golf will make every effort to accommodate these requests when available. 

 

Generally, an ADA covered disability is defined as a “physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more of the major life activities of the individual”. See, 42 USCA §12102. Spectators with a “temporary” injury or impairment that is not an ADA disability will not be allowed use of a golf cart under this Policy.

 

Spectators with transportation needs must contact the WA Golf Championship Department prior to the championship. This full policy is available at the following link: wagolf.org/policies.

 

PULL CARTS

Pull carts will be available to rent for $8 per player per day and will be available on first come first serve basis in the golf shop.

 

CADDIES

Host club caddies will not be available. A player may provide his own caddie. Caddies will be required to wear a caddie bib provided on the starting tee.

 

PRIZES

All prizes will be awarded according to 36-hole scores (gross only)

        Champion: Trophy and merchandise certificate; Runner-up: Trophy and merchandise certificate;

        Top-10: Crystal award and merchandise certificate; Other top finishers: Merchandise certificates

 

Merchandise certificates must be redeemed in the McCormick Woods Golf Club golf shop and may be used for golf as well as merchandise. NOTE: merchandise credit will expire on September 1, 2021.

 

Awards will be given to any contestant who scores a hole-in-one or eagle during the Championship. 

 

AWARDS CEREMONY

An awards ceremony will take place immediately following the completion of play. Trophies and merchandise certificates will be awarded at this time.

 

EXEMPTIONS

The Champion will earn an exemption into the 2021 Washington Champion of Champions, the 2021 Washington Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship and the 2021 PNGA Men’s Mid-Amateur Championship.

 

PERFORMANCE POINTS LIST

Points for the WA Golf Men’s Mid-Amateur are allocated as follows: Champion, 75 points; Runner-up, 50 points; Top 5 players, 25 points each; Top 10 players, 15 points each; Top 15 players, 5 points each.

 

GHIN SCORE POSTING

WA Golf will post competition scores for all players to the USGA GHIN System. 

 

DRESS CODE

Players and caddies must be neat in appearance with respect to personal grooming and clothing while on host club property. The WA Golf Dress Code Policy is available at the following link: wagolf.org/policies and will be provided to all players, along with any additional measures required by the host club, in the Player Memorandum.

 

CODE OF CONDUCT

WA Golf expects all contestants, caddies, gallery, and guests to exhibit proper conduct and behavior on the golf course and anywhere on club property during a WA Golf Championship. Unbecoming conduct or behavior may be grounds for immediate disqualification, at any time, from any WA Golf event. The following are some examples of unbecoming conduct or behavior:

  • Repeated use of loud, abusive, and/or profane language
  • Throwing and/or breaking equipment (club, ball, etc.) in anger or frustration
  • Damaging host club, WA Golf, and/or fellow contestant property
  • Public criticism or verbal abuse of host club, officials, volunteers or staff, and/or WA Golf volunteers, staff or fellow contestants
  • Potential endangerment of others
  • Intentionally violating stated club policy
  • Violation of WA Golf Dress Code and/or Footwear Policy
  • Other conduct deemed unbecoming
  • The Committee in charge of the competition shall be the sole judge of determining Conduct Code violations.

 

STROKE LIMIT POLICY

Players must return a score within 15 strokes of the course rating in at least one of the two rounds. Failure to do so will disqualify the player from entering the Washington Men's Mid-Amateur Championship for a minimum of one year.
 

UNOFFICIAL WITHDRAWAL

After the entry deadline and during play of the championship, players must notify WA Golf and state his need to withdraw. Entrants who unofficially withdraw (by not notifying WA Golf or without having sufficient reason) will not be granted entry into any future WA Golf Championship for a minimum of two years.

 

PACE OF PLAY POLICY

Players are encouraged to be familiar with WA Golf’s Pace of Play Policy, which is in effect at all championships.

 

LOCAL RULES AND TERMS OF THE COMPETITION

Players are encouraged to be familiar with WA Golf’s 2020 Local Rules and Terms of the Competition, which will be in effect at all championships.

 

PROHIBITED USE OF AUDIO EQUIPMENT

Rule 4.3 is modified in this way: During a round, a player is not allowed to use an electronic device to listen to music or other audio (such as podcasts or the like), including by using speakers, headphones or earbuds. Penalty for breach of Local Rule - see Rule 4.3.
