Format:

One 18-hole round of four-ball stroke play. Play will be from the USGA Tee Markers wherever they are situated (see Yardages). The low TWO teams will advance to the U.S. Amateur Four-Ball Championship at Philadelphia Cricket Club in Philadelphia, PA on May 23-27, 2020. Any play-offs will take place immediately after the conclusion of play for the last spot and two alternate positions.

 

Competition Schedule:

Starting times will start at 7:30am off of Hole #1 and Hole #10. See the Pairings and Starting Times tab for starting times. Please be at your assigned tee at least 10 minutes prior to your starting time.

 

Practice Round Information:

Players should call the Poppy Hills Golf Course Golf Shop at 831-622-8239 to schedule a practice round. Players should identify themselves as participants in the US Amateur Four-Ball Qualifying when making their practice round time.

Practice Round Availability:

Tuesday, December 3, 2019 from 12:00pm-1:00pm – All players may book a practice round in this time for the NCGA rate of $85 (walking), $110 (riding).

NCGA Members – May book a practice round time outside of the above time block for the NCGA rates; Monday-Thursday – $85 (walking), $110 (riding); Friday-Sunday – $115 (walking), $140 (riding)

Non-NCGA Members – May book a practice round time outside of the above time block for the NCGA guest rates; Monday-Thursday – $115 (walking), $140 (riding); Friday-Sunday – $145 (walking), $170 (riding).  

 

Cart Information:

Automotive transportation is prohibited. Players and caddies must walk. Pull-carts are permitted and may be rented from Poppy Hills Golf Course for $10. SPECTATOR CARTS ARE PROHIBITED.

 

Caddies:

Caddies are permitted, however, they are not available from Poppy Hills Golf Course.

 

Practice Balls:

Provided for players prior to the competition rounds at no cost. Following the competition round practice balls may be purchased for $5 (30 balls), $8 (60 balls), or $10 (90 balls). The practice range will open at 6:45am. The practice putting and chipping greens will open at sunrise.

 

Payment Information:

Cash and Credit Cards are the methods of payment accepted for all purchases (golf shop and food and beverage) at Poppy Hills Golf Course.

 

Food and Beverage Information:

The restaurant will be open at 6:30am. The snack bar will open at 9:00am.

 

Withdrawals:

Entrant who wishes to withdraw from Qualifying must notify the USGA (908-326-1950 or via e-mail at champs@usga.org) and the NCGA prior to their scheduled qualifying round. Failure to do so may result in disqualification from future USGA competitions. Players that fail to notify the NCGA prior to their starting time will be listed as No Shows.

 

Refunds:

In the event of medical condition, contact the USGA at 908-326-1950 for a refund prior to May 23, 2020. No refunds will be issued after May 23, 2020. A $30 service charge will be deducted from all refunds.

 

ADDITIONAL RULES INFORMATION

 

Rules Information:

The Rules of Golf effective January 2019 are in effect and are supplemented by the 2019 USGA Hard Card. The Committee will provide any additional Local Rules needed at the qualifying site. Limitation of Golf Balls:

The one ball Rule as prescribed in Section 8 of the Committee Procedures is in effect. See Model Local Rule G-4.

 

Automotive Transportation:

The Local Rule prohibiting the use of motorized transportation as prescribed in Section 8 of the Committee Procedures is in effect. See Model Local Rule G-6.

 

Footwear:

Rule 4.3a is modified in this way:

During a round, a player must not wear shoes with:

Traditional spikes – that is, spikes having single or multiple points designed to penetrate deeply into the surface of the ground (regardless of whether made of metal, ceramic, plastic or other materials); or spikes of any design that are entirely or partially made of metal, if such metal may come into contact with the course.

Grooves Condition:

The Local Rule as prescribed by Section 8 of the Committee Procedures is in effect, except that the Exception in the Model Local Rule does not apply.  You may check to see if your grooves are conforming by using the Informational Club Database - http://www.usga.org/InfoClubsDB/intro.html
