2019 WV Junior Match Play Qualifying Information
Qualifiying Sites and Dates
May 4th - Bel Meadow Golf Club - Mt. Clare, WV
May 4th - Edgewood Country Club - Sissonville, WV
Eligibility: Entries are open to junior golfers with an active GHIN Handicap index through a WVGA Member Club, and who are 18 years of age or under by the start of the Championship. All players MUST be residents of West Virginia. Please Reference WVGA Policies and Procedures for further details.
Format: Sixteen players (Boys) and six players (Girls) will advance from 18-hole stroke play qualifying into the Junior Match Play Championship. Match Play will begin on the morning of Saturday, May 11th and will be a single elimination format. There will be both a Boys and Girls Division. The defending Boys & Girls Champion from 2017 (if eligible) will be automatically exempt into the #1 spot in the championship.
Field Size: Field is limited to the 16 Boys and 6 Girls.
Qualifying Registration Fee: $60 for qualifying (you may only enter 1 qualifier) and $25 additional for successful qualifiers into the Championship.
CHAMPIONSHIP INFORMATION
Practice Round: The designated practice round date can be anyday between May 7th and May 10th depending on availibility. Players are instructed to make tee times through the golf shop. The practice round fee is $25 payable directly to the host club. Practice rounds on any other days other than the designated practice round will be up to the club, but players will be allocated only one practice round at the discounted rate.
Championship Yardage: Boys - approximately 6,895 yards Girls - 5,500 yards
Player Registration: There is no on-site registration for this event.
Player Lunch: Players will be provided a lunch during both days of competition.
Player Banquet: There is a mandatory player banquet beginning at 7:00PM in the main clubhouse on the night of Friday, May 10th.
Carts: The championship is a walking event for all players.
Spectator Carts: Spectator carts will be available from the host club for $20 payable directly to Parkersburg Country Club.
Caddies: Caddies are not permitted during qualifying or the championship proper. The use of pull carts is permitted.
Pairings: Pairings for stroke play qualifying will be released and updated on the WVGA website by 5:00PM on Friday, May 3rd. Pairings for the Junior Match Play Championship will be included in the Player Information that will be emailed to each player by Monday, May 6th.
Awards / Gift Certificates: The champion and runner-up will both receive trophies.
POY Points: Junior Player of the Year points will be awarded to all players who advance to the match play portion of the championship. Player of the Year points list will be updated online immediately following the completion of play.
Electronic Measuring Devices: Electronic devices that measure distance only are permitted for this championship.
USGA Groove Condition of Competition (Not in Effect): The USGA groove rules effective January 1, 2010 are NOT in effect for this competition.
Score Posting: At the conclusion of the qualifying rounds each players score will be automatically posted as a "T" or tournament score to the GHIN handicap system. Please do not enter your own scores from the competitve rounds as this will result in a double post.
Withdrawal Policy: In the event of a tournament withdraw; the player must notify the West Virginia Golf Association Office at 304-391-5000 no later than one week prior to the tournament. If withdraw is made prior to tournament deadline, the player may receive a refund regardless of reason less a $20 administrative fee. For a withdraw made after the entry deadline, the player may receive a refund only if player has experienced a sudden illness or injury, and only if the West Virginia Golf Association is notified prior to the first round of the tournament. All refund request must be submitted in writing to the Director of Junior Golf, Chris Slack.
