2019 WV Parent-Child Championship Information

 

 

 

Eligibility: Entries are open to all two-person teams where at least one team member is a "Regular Member" of the West Virginia Golf Association. Please see the WVGA Policies and Procedures for additional details.

 

Format: The tournament is a 36-hole modified scramble with teams competing on both the Cobb and Stonehaven courses. Teams will be paired in groups of 4 with a 9:00AM shotgun start both days.

 

Divisions: The WV Parent-Child Championship is divided into four major divisions: Amateur, Professional, Mother/Child, and Extended Family. Relationships for the Championship Division may include grandfather/child, father/child, grandfather/grandchild or step-father/child. Relationships for the Extended Family Flight may include non-immediate family members (uncle/aunt with nephew/neice), Family Friend (family friend filling in for absent family member or family member that has passed), and Multiple Children (Family Friend playing with one of the multiple of children someon might have).  After Round #1, the Amateur Division will be divided into flights. The Top 20 after Round #1 will be placed in the Championship Flight, while the remaining teams will be divided into flights equally. If less than four(4) teams register for the Professional Division those players will be added to the Championship Flight but cannot win the overall Parent-Child Championship. 

 

Field Size: The maximum field size is 300 players

 

Practice Round: The designated practice round date is Friday, July 19th. Players are instructed to make tee times through the golf shop. The practice round fee is $50 payable directly to the host club. Practice rounds on any other days other than the designated practice round will be up to the club, but players will be allocated only one practice round at the discounted rate.

 

Championship Yardage: Each division will play from a different set of tees at yardages equitable for each age.

 

Player Registration: Players registration will begin at 7:30AM the morning of Saturday, July 20th and will be located on the patio directly outside the golf shop. Players are required to register prior to 8:45AM in order to be in position for the announcements to be made prior to everyone being instructed to their starting hole.

 

Player Lunch: Players will be provided lunch following play on Saturday, July 20th.

 

Cart Fees: All cart and green fees are included in the tournament entry fee.

 

Spectator Carts: Spectator carts will not be permitted during this championship with the exception of a spectator who can provide an issued and active Handicap Permit. Final decision will be made by the WVGA Senior Director of Rules & Competitions and also the availability of carts at the host facility.

 

Caddies: Caddies are permitted during the championship. Players are responsible for supplying their own caddie. Caddies may ride in golf carts if it adheres to the WVGA cart policy and their is an available seat. * WVGA Cart Policy - there will be a maximum of 2 carts per group and 2 individuals per cart. *

 

Pairings: Pairings for the opening round will be released and updated on the WVGA website by 5:00PM on Wednesday, July 17th. Pairings will also be included in the Player Information that will be emailed to each player by Wednesday, July 17th.

 

Awards / Gift Certificates: Championship winners and flight winners will recieve trophies. Gift certificates will be awarded to the top finishers in each division as well.

 

Electronic Measuring Devices: Electronic devices that measure distance only are permitted for this championship.

 

USGA Groove Condition of Competition (Not in Effect): The USGA groove rules effective January 1, 2010 are NOT in effect for this competition.

 

Withdrawal Policy: In the event of a tournament withdraw; the player must notify the West Virginia Golf Association Office at 304-391-5000 no later than one week prior to the tournament. If withdraw is made prior to tournament deadline, the player may receive a refund regardless of reason less a $20 administrative fee. For a withdraw made after the entry deadline, the player may receive a refund only if player has experienced a sudden illness or injury, and only if the West Virginia Golf Association is notified prior to the first round of the tournament. All refund request must be submitted in writing to Chris Slack.

 

Host Hotel: The Resort at Glade Springs will offer a discounted rate to all participants of the WV Parent-Child.
