2019 WV Senior Open Championship Information

Eligibility: Entries are open to both professional and amateur golfers who are "regular members" of the WVGA as determined by the Executive Director and who are 50 years of age or older by the first round of Championship. Please Reference WVGA Policies and Procedures for further details on "regular members" (Policies & Procedures)
Format: The championship will be a 36-hole stroke play championship with each division playing a separate set of tees. Divisions will include Championship, Silver (60-69), and Gold (70+).
Field Size: The maximum field size is 72 players.
Practice Round: The designated practice round dates are April 30th and May 1st. Players are instructed to make tee times through the golf shop based on availability. The practice round fee for amateurs is $50 and for professionals is $25. Practice rounds can be played in advance based on availability of the club, but players will be allocated only one practice round at the discounted rate.
Championship Yardage: Championship - App. 6,400 yards Silver - App. 6,000 yards Gold - App. 5,600 yards
Player Registration: There is no player registration. All players will be expected to be on the first tee 10 minutes prior to their starting times.
Player Food & Beverage: There will be no food & beverage provided during the championship proper. Players will be able to make purchases on-site with cash or credit card.
Caddies: Caddies are permitted during the championship. Players are responsible for supplying their own caddie. Caddies may ride in golf carts if it adheres to the WVGA cart policy and their is an available seat. * WVGA Cart Policy - there will be a maximum of 2 carts per group and 2 individuals per cart. *
Pairings: Pairings for the opening round will be released and updated on the WVGA website by 5:00PM on Friday, April 26th. Pairings will also be included in the Player Information that will be emailed to each player by Friday, April 26th as well.
Awards / Payout / Gift Certificates: The champion and runner-up will both receive trophies. The Low Amateur and division winners will also receive trophies. Professionals will be paid in cash and Amateurs will be paid in gift certificates.
POY Points: State Senior Player of the Year points will be awarded to the top 15 amateur finishers.
Electronic Measuring Devices: Electronic devices that measure distance only are permitted for this championship.
USGA Groove Condition of Competition (Not in Effect): The USGA groove rules effective January 1, 2010 are NOT in effect for this competition.
Score Posting: At the conclusion of the championship each players score will be automatically posted as a "T" or tournament score to the GHIN handicap system. Please do not enter your own scores from the competitve rounds as this will result in a double post.
Withdrawal Policy: In the event of a tournament withdraw; the player must notify the West Virginia Golf Association Office at 304-391-5000 no later than one week prior to the tournament. If withdraw is made prior to tournament deadline, the player may receive a refund regardless of reason less a $20 administrative fee. For a withdraw made after the entry deadline, the player may receive a refund only if player has experienced a sudden illness or injury, and only if the West Virginia Golf Association is notified prior to the first round of the tournament. All refund request must be submitted in writing to the Manager of Operations, Cory Hoshor.
Host Hotel: Stonewall Resort - Single and Double Rooms are available for $153/night + tax and resort fee. When making reservations please let them know you are competing in the WV Senior Open.
Holiday Inn Express- Weston, WV has offered the WVGA a room rate of $99/night + tax. When making reservations please let them know you are with the WVGA.
