ELIGIBILITY

Amateurs

Open to VSGA members who will be 50 years of age by September 9, 2019. Participants must hold an active GHIN number issued by a licensed VSGA Member Club in good standing and meet the USGA Rules of Amateur Status. ENTRY FEE/METHOD OF PAYMENT/DEADLINE

Qualifiers

All non-exempt amateurs will be required to pay a qualifier fee of $75 by Monday, July 22, 2019. The $75 qualifying fee does not include the mandatory course fee at the qualifier, which must be paid to the host club prior to the qualifying round.  However, the qualifying fee is applied to the championship entry fee for successful qualifiers.  The VSGA will also negotiate a discounted practice round fee with host clubs.

 

Successful Qualifiers

Those who successfully qualify are required to pay the entry balance of $125 by August 19, 2019, which includes all course fees (including cart) and lunch for all rounds of competition.  In addition, the VSGA will negotiate a discounted practice round fee with Independence Golf Club.

 

Exempt Players

Exempt players pay $200 which includes all course fees (including cart) and lunch for all rounds of competition.  In addition, the VSGA will negotiate a discounted practice round fee with Independence Golf Club.  All exempt amateur entry forms must be received in the VSGA Office by Monday, July 22, 2019.

 

FORMAT

Qualifying

All non-exempt players must qualify to play in the championship. A player may only compete in one qualifier. There will be six qualifiers (see below) and each qualifier will be 18 holes of stroke play. The number of spots available at each qualifier will be determined based on participation and will be announced on-site.

 

Championship Proper – 84 players (includes qualifiers, exempt players, and professionals)

36-hole stroke play (18 holes per day)

TIES/PRIZES

The overall Champion will be the individual with the lowest score.  A tie for the overall Champion will be determined by a sudden death playoff, all other ties will split prizes equally. The Senior Open of Virginia Champion will have his name engraved on the Harry W. Easterly, Jr. Trophy.
