ELIGIBILITY

Open to VSGA members of all ages. Participants must hold an active GHIN number issued by a licensed VSGA Member Club in good standing and meet the USGA Rules of Amateur Status. For additional information see the VSGA Championship and Tournament Eligibility Guidelines.

 

ENTRY FEES/DEADLINES

Qualifying

Players competing in one of the first 11 qualifiers are required to submit an entry form with the entry fee of $75 by Monday, May 13, 2019.  The $75 qualifying fee does not include the mandatory course fee at the qualifier, which must be paid to the host club prior to the qualifying round.  However, the qualifying fee is applied to the championship entry fee for successful qualifiers.  The VSGA will also negotiate a discounted practice round fee with the host clubs.

 

Last Chance Qualifier

Players competing in the Last Chance Qualifier are required to register online by 3:00 pm Friday, June 14, 2019. The entry fee of $95 does not include the mandatory course fee at the qualifier, which must be paid to the host club prior to the qualifying round.  However, $75 of the qualifying fee is applied to the championship entry fee for successful qualifiers.  The VSGA will also negotiate a discounted practice round fee with the host club.

 

Successful Qualifiers

Those who successfully qualify are required to pay the entry balance of $185 by June 17, 2019 which includes all course fees (including cart) and lunch for all rounds of competition. In addition, the VSGA will negotiate a discounted practice round fee with Keswick Golf Club.

 

Exempt Players

Exempt players are required to submit an entry form with the entry fee of $260 by Monday, May 13, 2019. The entry fee includes all course fees (including cart) and lunch for all rounds of competition.  In addition, the VSGA will negotiate a discounted practice round fee with Keswick Golf Club.

 

FORMAT

Qualifying

All non-exempt players must qualify to play in the championship. A player may only compete in one of the first 11 qualifiers (see below) and each qualifier will be 18-holes of stroke play. Sites will be filled on a first come, first served basis. The number of qualifying spots available at each qualifier will be determined based on participation and will be announced on-site.

 

Last Chance Qualifier

Any player, regardless of whether or not they have competed in one of the first 11 qualifiers, may compete in the Last Chance Qualifier. This qualifier will be held June 17 at Mattaponi Springs Golf Club. Registration must be completed online only. The percentage of players advancing to the Championship proper from this qualifier will be 10 percent, with a maximum of five (5) players advancing.

 

Championship Proper - 132 Players (includes all qualifiers and exempt players)

June 24-25 – Stroke play qualifying (18 holes per day); the low 32 players advance to match play

June 26 – Rounds One and Two of match play

June 27 – Quarterfinal and Semifinal matches

June 28 – 36-hole match play final

 

EXEMPTIONS

Players may refer to the VSGA Exemption Policy for 2019 Championships for a complete list of exemptions in this championship.

 

PRIZES

The Champion, Finalist and Semifinalists receive gift certificates and trophies. All match play qualifiers will receive a gift certificate. All players that qualify for the Championship will receive a gift. On-site qualifying medalist(s) will receive a VSGA medal.
