North England Women’s Amateur Championship
For the first time ever, the world’s top women amateurs will have the opportunity to put their games to the test at the two premier links courses in North England. This new 54-hole event, co-hosted by Seaton Carew Golf Club in Durham County and Goswick Golf Links in Northumberland County, has been approved by the R&A for the awarding of World Amateur Golf Ranking points.
Further, it will take place in the run up to the prestigious St Rule Trophy to be contested over the New and Old Courses in St Andrews the ensuing weekend. As such, it is anticipated that this new tournament will attract a strong field with the potential to grow into a prominent fixture in the women’s amateur diary.
Here are the key details.
What: North England Women’s Amateur Championship
When: Tuesday 27th and Wednesday 28th of May
Where: Seaton Carew Golf Club and Goswick Golf Links
Format: 54-hole stroke play. The first two rounds will be played at Seaton Carew followed the next day by the final round at Goswick.
Eligibility Requirements: A maximum WHS index of 7.4
Prize Fund: The top six scratch finishers will be awarded cash prizes of £500 for 1st, £400 for 2nd, £350 for 3rd, £300 for 4th, £250 for 5th and £200 for 6th. In addition, the low net score for each of the three rounds will earn a cash prize of £100. Overall top finishers are not eligible to also win an individual round prize.

About Seaton Carew Golf Club
Founded in 1874, this seaside links is the 10th oldest golf club in England. It owes much of its current design pedigree to the input of renowned course architect Dr. Alister MacKenzie. It has hosted many notable competitions over its long history, most recently the English Amateur Championship in 2024.
