The Royds Trophy

The Royds Trophy is a fourball better ball matchplay knockout competition which is played across the 2025 season.

The entry fee is £25 per player (£50 per team). You can enter as a pair or sign up individually and we will find you a partner - over the years we have had many pairs who didn't previously know one another reach the final and win the whole event. Please note that you must have a valid WHS handicap index to enter.

Players are responsible for organising matches, which are typically scheduled during the week. You have a 4-6 week window to schedule your match in each round. One team in each match will be designated the home team and has the right to host the match at a course of their choosing, but a match can be played on any course provided both pairs agree.

Pairs who lose their first match are entered into the Royds Plate.

Last year we had a record 42 pairs enter the competition, which is a wonderful way to meet your fellow IPAGs and to experience golf at clubs including Sunningdale, The Berkshire, Queenwood, Walton Heath, Swinley Forest and Royal Wimbledon, to name just a few.

The 2024 Royds Trophy saw Mark Alford and Nick Carter defeat Matt Reynolds and Steve Kilpatrick in a tightly-fought final at New Zealand, while in the Royds Plate, Tom Darlington and Garrett O'Reilly beat Chris Pinnington at Royal Wimbledon.

The deadline for entries is Friday February 14, and the draw will be made on February 17.  The first matches will be played in March.
