British Columbia Golf is the governing body for amateur golf in the province of British Columbia, Canada. We are dedicated to fostering the growth, development, and promotion of the sport of golf across the region. BC Golf is committed to organizing and conducting high-quality championships and events, which serve as platforms for competition, development, and community engagement.

OVERVIEW

Successful individuals will help support British Columbia Golf’s Player Development Department. They will meet and interact with many people, including (but not limited to) the following: future players of the PGA and LPGA Tours, members of the British Columbia Golf Board of Directors and Zone Council, PGA of Canada members (professionals & general managers), and golf course superintendents.

Opportunities to support other British Columbia Golf initiatives (communications, championships, governance) may also be available.

 

Major Functions:

1. Plan, organize and coordinate BC Interprovincial Teams for 2025

2. Administrative support of the 2025 Canada Summer Games program

3. Assist with coordination of BC Performance Squads

4. Plan, organize and coordinate the Eddie Hogan Team

5. Oversee Administrative details with the National Quotas

6. Assist with Course Rating tasks

Specific Duties: BC Teams Support and assistance for all teams, including:

• Organization of team arrangements and support individual player arrangements for attendance to national and international competitions

• Book and confirm hotel and travel arrangements, communicate with coaches and players on travel arrangements

• Oversee team bags, team uniforms, inventory and player packages – keep precise inventory records.

• Ensure subsidy cheques are forwarded in timely manner to provincial team players

• Confirm FACT Sheets and information on details for accommodations, rentals, and hotels are sent well in advance for players to get prepared for national competitions

• Organization of team files and a master spreadsheet. Collect player results and update BC Provincial Team Competition Plan

• Coordinate medical/emergency forms, travel waiver forms, and code of conduct forms for all junior teams.

• Work in cooperation with Non-Playing Captains (NPC) or Coaches to finalize team details

• Send out and collect Player Summary Feedback forms, evaluation forms, and correspondence

• Assist with preparation of submission within 3 days of championship the Provincial Team spreadsheets to Golf Canada for registration of the teams

• Log all visa use for Teams with date, item, amount for reconciliation of visa statement, see the visa log book at Intern desk Provincial/National Quota Spots

• Work in consultation with Championship Committee on quotas

• Facilitate spreadsheets on quota spots for submission to Golf Canada Championship Division as per deadlines

• Track exemptions and quotas, plus results

• Confirm players for quotas by written notice of confirmation and by phone if required

• Submit the quota spreadsheet to Golf Canada staff within the critical timelines provided

• To maintain a master excel spreadsheet of all quotas.

• To consult with the Quota Selection Committee on assignment of quotas.

2025 Canada Summer Games

• Implement requirements for the 2025 Canada Summer Games as per the requests of the BC Games Society. Work in consultation with Elizabeth Dunn.

Training/Squads

• Assist with organizing squad sessions with BC Performance Coaches

• Confirm registrations and prepare documents upon request

• Send player evaluation forms to camp participants

• Assist with media coverage, photos, player profiles and social media

Course Rating

• Assist with administrative duties related to course rating

• Supervise inventory and keep detailed records

• Schedule and contact course raters in consultation with Elizabeth Dunn

General Duties

• Prepare a final report for BC Golf

• Submit payroll hours every two weeks

• Support the Player Development staff and coaches

• Assist with general office administration and coverage

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES:

  • University and/or College students or recent graduates preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written).
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate with staff, volunteers, stakeholders, and the public in a pleasant and professional manner.
  • Proven ability to work within a team environment.
  • Highly motivated individual with resiliency under pressure.
  • Positive attitude with the ability to self-start and take an active leadership role.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Must be able to attend the British Columbia Golf office as required.
  • Golf knowledge or experience is not required but a passion and interest in the game of golf and in British Columbia Golf’s mission is.

 

Note: British Columbia Golf’s regular hours of work are 37.5 hours per week, namely Monday to Friday, 7.5 hours a day and 5 days a week. Pay is a $20/hour wage. Payroll is direct deposit – 15th and 30th of each month – please check to ensure your payroll is correct and that your hours are submitted to Elizabeth for verification and then to Andy Fung for payment.
