QUALIFYING MEMORANDUM TO PLAYERS

QUALIFYING PORTAL:  Follow the link for pairings, live scoring, results and player information.  You can also access the qualifying portal by using the USGA Tournament Management app on your phone.  To access the page, login using the GGID: USSRAMSKAGIT18

 

FORMAT/QUALIFYING PLACES:  Stroke play competition conducted over 18 holes.  The field of 23 contestants will compete for five qualifying places and two alternate positions into the U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur Championship to be played at Orchid Island Golf & Beach Club in Vero Beach, Fla. on October 6-11, 2018.

 

REGISTRATION:  Players do not need to register upon arrive at the golf course.  Players are to report to their assigned starting tees, ready to play, 8 minutes before their starting times. 

 

STARTING TIMES:  Available on the Washington State Golf Association’s website, thewsga.org or HERE.  Online scoring will also be available on the website during the qualifier.  Starting times will be from 7:30 a.m. – 8:40 a.m. off hole #1.

 

PLAYOFF:  In the event of a tie for the last qualifying places, there will be a hole-by-hole playoff to determine the final qualifiers and the 1st and 2nd alternate if necessary. All announcements regarding the play-off will be made at the public scoreboard upon completion of the qualifying round.
 

FOOTWEAR:  Shoes with traditionally-designed spikes (regardless of composition, i.e., ceramic, plastic, etc.) or spikes, regardless of design, comprised either entirely or partially of metal (if such metal may come in contact with the course) are prohibited during the stipulated round.  Penalty for breach of this condition: DISQUALIFICATION.

 

GOLF BALLS/DRIVERS:  The “One Ball Rule” will be in effect.  Please check the USGA website, www.usga.org, for a list of approved golf balls and drivers.
 

GROOVES:  The players clubs must conform to the grooves and punch mark specifications in The Rules of Golf that are effective from January 1, 2010 (see Decision 4-1/1).

 

DMDS:  In Sectional qualifying and in the Championship proper, a player may obtain distance information by use of a distance-measuring device.  If, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g., elevation changes, wind speed, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3.  For more information, visit www.usga.org/dmd.

 

PACE OF PLAY:  It is a condition that player must play without undue delay and in accordance with guidelines established by committee.  Guidelines will be distributed by email.

 

PRACTICE ROUND AVAILABILITY:  Players may play one hosted practice round prior to the qualifier.  Contestants must call the Skagit Golf & Country Club golf shop at (360) 757-0530 to make arrangements.  All practice round times are at the discretion of the golf shop staff.  Practice rounds will NOT be available at all on Wednesdays.
 

PRACTICE FACILITIES/RANGE BALLS:  Range balls will be hosted on the driving range beginning at 6:30 a.m.  

 

CADDIES:  Host club caddies will not be available.  Players are allowed to have a caddie.  Caddies must wear a caddie bib that will be supplied on the starting tee.  

 

CARTS:  As you prepare for your upcoming qualifying round for the 64th U.S. Senior Women’s Amateur Championship, we wanted you to be aware of the USGA's change regarding the use of golf carts at both the qualifiers and the championship proper.  Moving forward, we will be using a policy that allows for either the player or the player's caddie to ride in a cart at any one time (known as the "one-seat" policy).


By allowing the caddie to assist the player with movement of the golf cart, we feel this will keep groups moving forward, especially around green complexes.  Additionally, it eliminates potential penalties with golf carts and preserves the experience for those walking.

Cart Policy for USGA Senior Amateur Championships

 

Spectator carts will not be permitted under any circumstances.

 

CART FEES:  Cart fees are $30 per player.  As per the USGA’s policy, cart riders will be paired up regardless of whether or not they have a caddie.  Please do not expect to have your own cart during the qualifier.  Carts fees can be paid directly to the golf shop on the day of the qualifier.  

 

GOLF SHOP:  Open at 6:30 a.m. 

 

CODE OF CONDUCT:  As set forth in the USGA application, the code of conduct applies to all USGA Qualifying and Championships.

 

PERSONAL APPEARANCE:  Contestants and caddies must be neat in appearance.  Bermuda length shorts may be worn.  Short shorts, tee shirts, tank tops and blue jeans are prohibited.  Shirts must have collars.

 

FOOD SERVICE:  The snack bar will only be open following the round.
