2025 Canada Games

Team NS Golf - Selection Process 

 

The 2025 Canada Games (Summer) will take place from August 8 to 25, 2025, in beautiful St. John’s, Newfoundland. The golf competition will be a 72-hole stroke play tournament from August 19 to 22 at the Bally Haly Golf & Country Club. Team NS Golf will consist of two (2) male and two (2) female athletes accompanied by one (1) coach and one (1) manager.

 

 

Eligibility:

  • All athletes must meet competitor eligibility requirements as established in the 2025 Jeux de Canada Games Technical Package
  • Age restriction: under 18 years of age as of Aug. 1, 2025 (DOB: August 2, 2006, or later)
  • Athletes must be Golf NS/Golf Canada members in good standing
  • Athletes must be permanent residents of Nova Scotia
  • Athletes must participate in the 2025 Junior Boys/Girls Championship
  • Athletes must participate in the 2025 Golf Canada NextGen Championships
  • U15 athletes must qualify for the third round of competition of the 2025 Golf NS Junior Boys/Girls Championship (top 10 boys and top 10 girls).
  • All athletes will compete from the same yardage (boy’s yardage and girl’s yardage)

 

Qualifying Events:

  • Junior Invitational June 8 (1 Round) Oakfield GCC
  • Junior Invitational July 3 (1 Round) Avon Valley GCC
  • Golf NS Provincial Boys/Girls Championship July 8-10 (3 Rounds) Brightwood GC
  • Golf Canada NextGen Championship July 15-17 (3 Rounds) Oakfield GCC

 

Selection Criteria:

  • Best five (5) of a possible eight (8) rounds
  • Five (5) rounds from the events above, will be added together to give an athlete’s qualifying Canada Games total

 

  • Example:
Round 1 - 77 Round 5 - 68
Round 2 - 72 Round 6 - 70
Round 3 - 70 Round 7 - 82
Round 4 - 80 Round 8 - 71
Best 5 Rounds: 72, 70, 68, 70, 71 Score: 351

 

 

Post Final Qualifying Round:

  • If a player declines his/her Team NS Golf position, the next qualifying total score will be used
  • Should a tie exist, a sudden-death playoff will commence on hole #1, followed by hole #9 and this order repeated until the tie is broken (Oakfield GCC – July 17)
