Tournament History
In 1972, shortly after the completion of Crag Burn Golf Club, the founding members established a 2-Man Scratch Better Ball Tournament to test the golf abilities of our area amateur golfers. This event quickly gained traction as one of the premier scratch better ball tournaments in the Buffalo District.
During this time Bert Nash was honing his competitive skills in all the local Buffalo District championship tournaments. Subsequently, Bert joined Crag Burn Golf Club in 1981 and quickly became involved in the 2-Man Scratch Better Ball Tournament. Tragically, Bert's life was cut short in 1986 and the following year the Board renamed the tournament the Bert Nash Memorial Golf Tournament. Over the years the Bert Nash has maintained its status as the premier better ball scratch event in Buffalo.
In addition to Bert's love of golf, he was a great humanitarian as demonstrated by his service as a Buffalo Fireman and his love of family. To honor his legacy, the Bert Nash Memorial has been a mainstay event for top local, state and national golfers. The tournament is held annually in June and always hosts a strong competitive field of amateur golfers.
