Permitted Devices

Range finders and GPS devices are allowed for this event, provided they are used solely to measure distance. Devices that measure wind, slope, or changing conditions are not permitted. Additionally, phones with green reading materials will not be allowed during the PAT. The PGA of BC has adopted Model Local Rule G-11, restricting the use of green-reading materials. For full details on this policy, please click here. Should any player have yardage guides or green maps they intend to use for this event, prior Committee approval may be required. Please contact me with a sample copy at your convenience for prior approval.

Registration & Photo Identification

Players will be required to provide valid government-issued photo identification (such as driver’s license, PR card, or passport) at the first tee to PGA of BC Staff. Please note a strict policy that if your identity cannot be confirmed through this process, you will not be permitted to attempt this PAT.

Participants will need to check in at the pro-shop before teeing off.

Caddies

Please note that caddies will be permitted for this event; however, they must be active PGA of BC members in good standing. Should you have a caddie for this event. If you have not already, please contact me to register and confirm their attendance.

Pace of Play

The PGA of BC’s Pace of Play policies will be strictly enforced for this event and will be closely monitored by multiple Rules Referees. Time Par for the event will be set for approximately 4 hours, 20 minutes and confirmed at the start of the event. Please note that failure to comply with the PGA of BC PAT pace of play policy may result in penalties and/or disqualification.

Definition of “Out of Position”: The first group to start will be considered out of position if, at any time during the round, they exceed the time allotted to play, as detailed on the applicable course’s Pace of Play Chart. Any subsequent group will be considered out of position if, at any time during the round, they (a) exceed the allotted time to play and (b) reach a par-3 hole that is open and free of play, reach a par-4 and have not played a stroke from the teeing ground before the hole is open and free of play or reach a par-5 and all players have not played a stroke from the teeing ground before the hole is open and free from play.

Please note that at the discretion of the PGA of BC, the Association reserves the right to stop play for Applicants no longer in a reasonable position to meet their designated pass score. For example, should a player well-exceed an allotment of strokes through 9-holes or further and the Association deems it unreasonable for them to meet the pass score, the referees may disqualify a player from the remainder of the PAT. This will only be enforced if the player is deemed to be causing a distraction and is strictly out of respect and in considerations of fellow playing competitors and pace of play for the host facility.

New Scoring Rules
Each player will be given their playing partner's scorecard to keep score during the event. Players are responsible for recording the designated player’s score throughout the entire round.

Scoring Checkpoints
Players must present their scorecards to tournament staff at designated scoring stations throughout the event. Scorecards should be accurate at each checkpoint. If there are any discrepancies in the final scores, all players in the group must agree to the corrections in the scoring area before leaving.

Dress Code

All Applicants must abide by the PGA of BC’s Golf Casual Dress Code, which a description can be found by clicking here. Please note that tailored shorts will be permitted for this event; however, cargo shorts will not.

Professional Code of Conduct

Participants are reminded that they are still in the process of applying to the PGA of Canada. Any negative actions observed from an applicant at the PAT may affect their current application or any future applications. Please be aware of proper golf etiquette while taking the PAT, distractions to other participants, intent to cheat, excessively slow play, club throwing, and abusive language will not be tolerated and may lead to further disciplinary actions, including removal from the event.

Priority for future PAT Events/Cut Score

Due to the growing number of applications to join the PGA of Canada coupled with limited available positions in PAT events, a new PAT priority procedure was introduced in 2022. Registration will continue to be accepted on a first come, first served basis; however, please note that a cut score to determine priority in future PATs and re-applications to the PGA of Canada may be enforced. Should an Applicant exceed their PAT pass score by more than ten (10) shots, they may lose priority for future PATs at Zone discretion. Should a future PAT be over-subscribed, their position in the field may be given to another applicant, regardless of when they have registered. Additionally, the PGA of BC may require additional proof or validation in order to be considered for future PATs and re-applications with the PGA of Canada. The purpose of this policy is to ensure fields in PATs are streamlined for qualified applicants and not solely based on registration timelines given their popularity.

Code of Conduct - Rule 1.2a

all players are expected to play in the spirit of the game in a sportsmanlike manner, play at a prompt pace (40 seconds to play shot), safely, and care for the course by replacing divots, repair ball marks, and rake bunkers.

The use of alcohol or cannabis products is prohibited during the round, Penalty - disqualification.

PAT participants acknowledge that by playing in this event, they agree to abide by all other applicable terms of the 2024 PGA of BC Tournament Manual, including the Player Declaration (sec. 16).
