August 6th - 8th, 2018 - Great River Golf Club, Milford, Connecticut
Format: Practice Rounds will be played on Monday, August 6th, followed by the Players Welcome Reception, Dinner and Ryan Lee Scholarship Presentation. Tournament play will begin on Tuesday, August 7th. All participants will play 18 holes of stroke play on Tuesday, August 7th and Wednesday, August 8th. There will be an awards ceremony and trophy presentation following the conclusion of play on Wednesday at approximately 6:15 p.m.
After round one on Tuesday, August 7th, there will be a Long Drive contest for all contestants, with prizes for top finishers. All players are welcome to participate, and there will be an ice cream sundae bar provided.
Practice Rounds: All players will be entitled to one complimentary practice round on Monday, August 6th at Great River Golf Club, free of charge. Players may play their practice round any time after 9:00 a.m. The practice round is for players only, but spectators are permitted to walk along during the round (no caddies permitted).
All players wishing to play a practice round MUST schedule a tee time via the tournament website by clicking here.
Note: Great River Golf Club is a semi-private facility. For those contestants wishing to play additional practice rounds before August 6th, you must call the golf shop to reserve a starting time. Please identify yourself as a contestant in the 2018 Northern Junior for a reduced rate.
Registration: All players are required to register upon their arrival, and they will receive their tournament gifts at that time. Registration will be available during the following times:
Monday, August 6th: 8:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. (Upstairs patio)
Monday, August 6th: 5:30 p.m. - 6:30 p.m. (Inside dining room)
Tuesday, August 7th: 6:15 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. (Upstairs patio)
Starting Times: Starting Times and Pairings for the first round of play on Tuesday, August 7th will be e-mailed to all players no later than Monday, July 30th and will be available on the tournament website at NorthernJunior.com. Round 2 starting times will be determined by scores from Round 1, with the leaders going off last on Wednesday. Starting times will be from 7:00 a.m. to approximately 1:30 p.m. on both days. Please make sure that you are available to play at any time on both tournament days.
Please do not request a specific starting time or group, as we will be unable to accommodate your request. Due to summer weather circumstances beyond our control (Thunderstorms and/or Rain), we may have to suspend play, continue play the following morning or use a shotgun format for starting times.
Players Welcome Reception and Dinner: All players and guests are invited to attend the Players Welcome Reception and Dinner on Monday, August 6th beginning at 6:00pm. The dinner is complimentary for all players, and parents/guests are invited to attend at a cost of $30 per person (includes tax and gratuity), which can be paid at the door. Dress will be normal golf course attire (collared shirt, golf shorts/skirts or pants).

Long Drive Contest: Following the first round of play on Tuesday, August 7th, there will be a Long Drive Contest beginning at approximately 6:30 p.m. for all participants, with prizes for top finishers.
***Media Relations Requirement: We request that all players complete a media information questionnaire in order to help us cover all aspects of the tournament. Please go to media.northernjunior.com and fill out the online form, which should take no more than 5 minutes.
Practice Facility: The practice range and short game area will be available for your use beginning at 6:15am each tournament day. The practice facility will also be available following each round.
Food & Beverage: Players will receive a complimentary lunch on each tournament day, which will be available beginning at 10:45 a.m. Bottled water and snacks will also be provided to all players throughout the golf course. The Snack Bar will be available for all players, spectators and guests on a cash basis, and Monty’s River Grille will be open on Tuesday and Wednesday beginning at 11:00 a.m.
Spectators: Spectators are encouraged to attend and admission is free. All spectators are required to stay in the rough or on the cart paths at all times and are not allowed to talk to players during the competition. Golf carts and spectator carts are not allowed without a Government issued permanent handicap placard.
Player Communication: During the course of the championship, the Tournament Committee will utilize the Tournament Website at NorthernJunior.com and Email/Text to communicate suspensions of play, resumptions, delays in starting times, or any other matters of importance.
Rangefinders and GPS Systems: Rangefinders and GPS systems may be used and a player may obtain distance information by using a device that measures distance. If, during a stipulated round, a player uses a distance-measuring device to gauge or measure other conditions that might affect his play (e.g., gradient, wind speed, temperature, etc.), the player is in breach of Rule 14-3.
Dress Code: Great River Golf Club has a strict dress code policy. All players and spectators are required to wear a collared shirt which must be tucked in at all times. Jeans are not allowed on property for players or spectators and hats must be worn in a traditional manner.
Late to Tee (Rule 6-3): In accordance with USGA rules, any player who arrives late to their assigned tee time within five (5) minutes will have the opportunity to play and will be assessed a two stroke penalty. If the player arrives more than five (5) minutes late to their assigned tee time, they will be disqualified. There are NO exceptions to this rule and refunds will not be issued for disqualifications.
Withdrawals & Refund Policy: Any player wishing to withdraw must notify the tournament office at tournament@northernjunior.com immediately. Withdrawal requests received on or before July 31st will receive their full refund less a $25.00 service charge. Withdrawal requests received after July 31st and before August 6th will receive a 50% refund. Any withdrawals received on or aafter August 6th will not receive a refund. Every effort will be made to complete 36 holes of competition, but in the event that only 18 holes are completed due to weather, no refund will be issued. If no tournament rounds are completed due to weather, a refund of $75.00 will be issued to all players.
AJGA Performance Based Entry: The 2018 Boys Champion will receive eight (8) AJGA Performance Stars, the top five (5) finishers in the Boys Championship will receive four (4) AJGA Performance Stars, and the top ten (10) finishers in the Boys Championship will receive one (1) AJGA Performance Star.
The 2018 Girls Champion will receive eight (8) AJGA Performance Stars, the top three (3) finishes in the Girls Championship will receive four (4) AJGA Performance Stars, and the top five (5) finishers in the Girls Championship will receive one (1) AJGA Performance Star.
Tournament Invitations: The 2018 Boys Champion and Runner-Up will receive invitations to the 2018 Bobby Chapman Junior, 2019 International Junior Masters and 2019 Liberty National Junior Invitational. The 2018 Boys Champion will receive an invitation to the 2019 North & South Junior and 2019 Northern Amateur.
The 2018 Girls Champion will receive an invitation to the 2019 North & South Junior and the 2018 Girls Champion and Girls Runner-Up will receive an invitation to the 2019 Liberty National Junior Invitational. Additionally, the top 3 finishers in both the Boys and Girls Championship will receive invitations to the 2018 IMG Junior World Florida Challenge.
Prizes: Top finishers in the Boys and Girls Championship will receive prizes in the form of merchandise credit redeemable at the Great River Golf Club Shop.
Push/Pull Carts & Caddies: Caddies are not permitted during practice round or tournament play. Non-Motorized Push/Pull carts are permitted. Golf carts and spectator carts are not allowed without a Government issued permanent handicap placard.
