Moore Park Golf Club – Additional Local Rules
(To be read in conjunction with the JNJG & GNSW Local Rules Hard Card and the Rules of Golf as adopted by the R&A)
1. PREFERRED LIES
When a player’s ball lies in a part of the general area cut to fairway height the player may take free relief once by placing the original ball or another ball in and playing it from this relief area:
- 1. Reference Point: Spot of the original ball.
- 2.Size of Relief Area Measured from Reference Point: 30 cm from the reference point, but with these limits:
- Must not be nearer the hole than the reference point, and
- Must be in the general area.
In proceeding under this Local Rule, the player must choose a spot to place the ball and use the procedures for replacing a ball under Rules 14.2b(2) and 14.2e.

** The general area of the course covers all of the course except for the other four defined areas: (1) the teeing area the player must play from in starting the hole he or she is playing, (2) all penalty areas, (3) all bunkers, and (4) the putting green of the hole the player is playing.
2. ABNORMAL COURSE CONDITION – 8TH HOLE WORN PATH
The worn pathway on the left side of the 8th hole is classed as an artificial surface and is to be treated as an Abnormal Course Condition from which free relief is allowed under Rule 16.1. Relief Is allowed when
- The player’s ball touches or is in or on the abnormal course condition, or
- The abnormal course condition physically interferes with the player’s area of intended stance or area of intended swing.

3. DRIVING RANGE & PRACTICE PUTTING GREEN
The Driving Range as defined by black lighting poles, wire fencing and netting structures is a No Play Zone. Play is prohibited and free relief must be taken from interference by the No Play Zone under Rule 16.1f . Do not attempt to retrieve balls from this area.
The Practice Putting Green as defined by sandstone edging is a No Play Zone . Play is prohibited and free relief must be taken under Rule 16.1f.

4. GROUND UNDER REPAIR
The following areas are Ground Under Repair:
- All areas as defined by white stakes and/or lines.
- Except in a penalty area, deep ruts made by a mower, tractor, or motor vehicle.
Relief Is allowed when
- The player’s ball touches or is in or on the GUR, or
- The GUR area physically interferes with the player’s area of intended stance or area of intended swing.

5. IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTIONS
- All internal tee and green safety fences, course distance markers, all constructed paths, clearly defined roadways created by course maintenance vehicles, worn or exposed tracks extending from timber edged or bitumen pathways and worn areas on the sides of walkways are Immovable Obstructions from which free relief may be obtained.
- The fence behind the 1st green is an Immovable Obstruction from which free relief may be obtained under Rule 16.1a, or free relief may be obtained within two (2) club lengths of the nearer end of the fence, no nearer the hole.
- The pump structures on the 8th and 16th holes are Immovable Obstructions from which free relief may be obtained.
Relief Is allowed when
- The player’s ball touches or is in or on the immovable obstruction, or
- The immovable obstruction physically interferes with the player’s area of intended stance or area of intended swing.

6. IMMOVABLE OBSTRUCTION CLOSE TO PUTTING GREENS (EG. SPRINKLER HEADS)
- Relief from interference by an Immovable Obstruction may be taken under Rule 16.1.
- The player also has an extra option to take relief when such Immovable Obstruction are close to the putting green and on the line of play: Ball in general area. The player may take relief under Rule 16.1b if an Immovable Obstruction is:
- On the line of play, and
- within two club-lengths of the putting green, and
- within two club-lengths of the ball.
But complete relief must be taken, which includes both physical and line of play interference.
Exception – No Relief If Line of Play Clearly Unreasonable. There is no relief under this Local Rule if the player chooses a line of play that is clearly unreasonable.

7. STAKED OR ORNAMENTAL TREES
The young trees identified by stakes are No Play Zones:
- If a player's ball lies anywhere on the course other than in a penalty area, and it lies on or touches such a tree or such a tree interferes with the player's area of intended stance or area of intended swing, the player must take relief under Rule 16.1f.
- If the ball lies in a penalty area, and interference to the player's stance or area of intended swing exists from such a tree, the player must take penalty relief under Rule 17.1e.

8. OUT OF BOUNDS
- Those areas beyond the inside of the black boundary fence. When there is no black boundary fence then beyond the inside of a line as defined by a bollard and/or chain fence.
- Beyond the fences of E.S. Marks Athletics Field, The Eastern Distributor, Raleigh Park and Moore Park Supa Centre.
- The Course Maintenance Depot, the area within the black fencing adjacent to the 9th tee.
- A ball which crosses a public road and comes to rest beyond that road is out of bounds, even though it may lie on another part of the course.
