Goodrich/Manitou Ridge Fall League Rules & Event Descriptions (UPDATED 8/1/2024)
USGA Rules will apply to all events; some local rules will also apply.
-
In all Fall League events we will use a “Gimme Tape” on each flagstick to help with pace of play. If your ball is COMPLETELY inside the tape mark on the pin, you can pick-up your ball and add the stroke to your score. (Place flagstick base inside cup so pin lays flat. Measure to tape mark; THE ENTIRE BALL must be completely inside tape mark)-
NO GIMME TAPE IN THE 2024 FALL LEAGUE
-
-
The maximum score any player can take is a 9. If you are shooting/putting for an 8 and miss, please pickup your ball and move on.
-
Seniors 55 & older (in present year) can move up to play “Gold Tees” if they meet the following criteria:
-
70 years or older automatically can move up regardless of handicap.
-
55+ can move up if AGE plus USGA 18-hole handicap index = 70 or higher”***
-
***Subject to review by League Management.
Practice Rounds
-
On Course Practice rounds are allowed for all six weeks of Fall League and King of the Ridge.
-
All practice rounds must be played from different tee area other than the competition tees used for that night’s event (Excludes weeks where multiple tee areas are used)
-
The week of the “Mixed Bag of Fun”, you are not allowed to play to the yellow flag on 7 or the small cup on 8.(NOT PLAYED IN -
King of the Ridge Practice rounds are allowed
-
DO NOT hit any tee shots anywhere near the white tee marker)s
-
DO NOT PRACTICE from anywhere near any of the shootout locations
-
Handicap Parameters
-
Goodrich Golf leagues use the USGA handicap index for players handicapping.
-
Players with an active USGA index receive 90% of their USGA Index.
-
Players without an active USGA index will receive 70% of the Callaway System calculation each week.
-
Flights
- Over 32 players, we will use two flights.
- Over 52 players, we will use three flights.
- Flights will be based on handicaps.
- There is no Senior Flight in Fall League.
Weather – Cancellation/Postponements
-
The Wednesday Night Fall League will sometimes need to play in adverse conditions. If it has been raining all day, the league will inevitably cancel/postpone. If there are scattered showers with no visible dangerous weather either on course or on radar, be prepared to play
-
Unfortunately, there may be the chance we will have some tough weather where we will not be able to play. If a decision can be made early in the day, or the course has become unplayable, that decision will be decided by 3:00 P.M. Text and email messages will be sent.
-
If it is after 3:00 P.M., you must assume the league will still be played and you will need to be prepared to play.
-
If weather causes the entire night to be washed out, you will receive a rain check the following week
-
In an effort to complete play, we may delay play as long as possible depending on daylight.
-
Because this is a shotgun start, if any group finishes play, the night is considered official. If any group does not complete the round, they will receive the maximum hole score of 9 for any unfinished holes.
-
King of the Ridge - if weather causes a postponement, we will play the King of the Ridge one week later.

Week 5 - “Shamble Mixer” Individual Gross & Net
-
This Shamble will combine a team & individual element.
-
The only part of the team aspect is the tee shot. Each foursome will get to share the best tee shot of the group.
-
Groups/Teams will be based on handicaps & scores from this season in an attempt to balance the field.
-
A shamble combines elements of a scramble with elements of stroke play.
-
Like in a scramble, all players tee off and the best shot of the group is selected.
-
All players in the group will move their balls to the spot of the selected shot.
-
From this point, the hole is played out by each player playing their own ball into the hole.
-
ONLY the 2nd shot is played with lift, clean, and place, similar to a scramble.
-
-
Groups missing a player do not get any extra shots.
-
Groups only having two players will get one extra tee shot that must be rotated each hole.
-
-
ONE REQUIREMENT: Each group must use at least one tee shot from each player in the group.
-
In a Shamble, the handicap allowance is reduced to 75%.

-
Defending KoR Champions qualify for next year’s KOR (unless the Net Champ qualifies for Gross in which case he must play in the gross event.)
-
If either of the defending Champions finish outside the top 10 in points, we will have 11 players in the King of the Ridge and eliminate two players on the first hole.
-
-
-
SEASON POINTS for King of the Ridge Qualifying
-
Points are accumulated based on your finish each week in Fall league.
-
Final standings are based on your best 5 of 6 weekly scores (this rewards players for showing up)
-
-
Point system is as follows: (points are based on RESULTS of GAME played, not medal play scores)
-
If there are 50 players in the league, points are as follows:
-
1st = 50 points
-
2nd = 49 points
-
3rd = 48 points
-
4th = 47 points
-
…
-
…
-
Continue down to last place which will score 1 point.
-
-
Rainouts: If there are any rainouts, each rainout will reduce the number of scores used to calculate King of the Ridge standings.
-
The same procedure will be done with the NET standings.
-
- If a player finishes Top 10 in both gross & net standings, GROSS takes precedent. If you finish Top 10 in GROSS, you must play the GROSS King of the Ridge.
-

-
-
The “King of the Ridge” competition is very simple and works like this:
-
10 (possibly 11 or 12) players will tee off the first hole
-
The Gross KoR field will play from the white tees.
-
The Net KoR field will play from the same tees that they qualified from.
-
Seniors that played and qualified from the gold tees can play the gold tees in the King of the Ridge. (NET ONLY) Their playing handicaps are adjusted to the teeing areas being played just as if it was the regular season.
-
-
-
The player with the highest Gross/NET score will be eliminated from the “King of the Ridge”
-
In the event of a tie, there will be a shoot-out with the tied players.
-
The tied players will hit a shot around the green at a previously determined location.
-
You can place your ball within the circle.
-
The player that finishes furthest from the hole is eliminated
-
-
Players that survive the first hole move on to the second hole repeating the sequence until we have one lone player in each division standing on the 9th green and those players are declared the “Kings of the Ridge”
-
-
Due to lack of daylight, any player can play “ready golf” at any time except while in the shoot-out
-
ADVICE – It is not to be given or taken by any player. If a player is eliminated, they are not allowed to give advice to the remaining players. Any player receiving advice could be penalized.
-
Caddies are allowed but must be declared at the start of the round.
The following is the order of play both off the tee and in any shoot-outs:

-
Alternates are encouraged to be onsite should any players not make the tee time. We will use alternates based on the results of the Fall League Points Standings
