Welsh Women’s Team Championship

Competitor & Captain’s Information

Format

The format of this championship is match play. A team shall consist of five players. All matches shall be played off scratch. The team winning three or more points shall be the winner and enter the next round. Individual games shall be played to a conclusion until the overall result of the match is ensured.

Plate Event

Those teams who lose in the first round or the quarter-finals of the finals will play in a Plate competition, the format of which will be Four Ball Better Ball scratch with all six squad players able to play. The winner will be the team returning the best two aggregate scratch scores from three.

Course Set-Up

Standard Red Tee locations will be used for the Championship.

Registration

The team captain must register their team in person at the Championship Office at the venue or by telephone by calling or WhatsApp on 07597590688 between 10.00hrs – 16.00hrs on Friday 16^th August. Failure to register by this time may result in the team forfeiting their place. Those registering by telephone should still report to the championship office on the day of their tee time to collect any relevant paperwork.

Handicaps

All players who hold a WHS handicap and wish to enter any Wales Golf event must be in possession of a WHS Handicap Index. Entrants must be able to provide proof of Handicap Index at any Wales Golf Championship when requested by the committee or their opponents, failure to do so may result in disqualification.

Practice Round

Competitors have been granted a courtesy practice round on Friday 16^th August between 10.00hrs –16.00hrs. Practice rounds are to be booked online using the below link; those that signed up the team On Golf Genius and receiving the subsequent email can sign up for the practice round and individual players as “guests”.

Practice Facilities

Competitors may use the club’s practice facilities, including a 200 yard 4-bay Driving Range (use your own balls), short game area, putting green and net.

Caddies

Competitors ARE allowed caddies in this championship. There is no restriction on players who have concluded their match from caddying for team members.

Pace of Play

The Wales Golf Pace of Play Policy will be implemented for the duration of the championship with roving referees on course to enforce any necessary actions.

Dial a Ref

Competitors will be granted permission to use a mobile phone to call the Tournament Director if they require assistance on the course and cannot locate a referee / WG official. Please call 07597590688 for a referee.

Car Park

Competitors may use the main car park and there is overflow parking available. We strongly recommend that a maximum of 3 cars per team is used throughout the championship to maintain space for everyone.

TO AVOID PARKING ISSUES IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT ALL TEAMS FOLLOW THE CAR PARKING GUIDELINES

Catering

On practice day the normal club catering is available throughout the day. On match days, catering will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner, at the expense of your team.

Clubhouse

Will be open one hour before the first tee off time on each day. Competitors, their family and guests are permitted use of the clubhouse facilities, however in the event of overcrowding noncompetitors may be asked to use facilities elsewhere. Locker rooms will be open throughout the championship including use of the showers, but competitors must bring their own towels.

Presentation

The championship trophy and all additional prizes will be presented as soon as possible after the close of play on Sunday 18^th August. All winners are expected to attend.

Responsibility

Rhuddlan Golf Club and Wales Golf cannot accept responsibility for players’ property during the championship or on practice days.

Captains Meeting

There will be no captain’s meeting this year. All information needed for the championship will be given to team captains at registration, and is available in this document.

Squad Lists

The squad list form can be found at the bottom of this document and must be returned to the Championship office during the registration period.

No squad list is finalised until 4pm on Friday 16^th August.

If a team captain is unable to return a squad list during the registration period, they may nominate another person to do so or email daniel.fullager@walesgolf.org with the completed form.

Team Order

The order of play for a team's first match must be submitted to the Tournament Director by the CLOSE OF REGISTRATION on Friday 16th August. Alteration to the order of play in subsequent rounds must be submitted to the Championship Office at least half an hour before the team is due out. The team order must be in Handicap Index order.

Failure to do so will mean that the order of play from the previous match will stand. If due to accident or illness the team order submitted for a match has to be changed it is to be reported to the Championship Office at the earliest opportunity.

Should any team be unable to field a full team of five players the Championship Office must be notified at least 30 MINUTES before the match is due to start. The team members remaining must play in positions 1-2-3-4 and concede match 5. The match lists will be published by Wales Golf Championship Staff once this window has expired. Matches will be published on noticeboards, televisions and online.

All individual games will have assigned tee times, for which the provisions of Rule 5.3 will apply. Once a team has secured three points, the remaining games will be called in. Any games which have not concluded will be deemed halved.

Reporting of Scores

Captains must confirm the match result with the Championship Office immediately on completion of the match.

Advice to Players

There will no longer be a person nominated to give advice during the matches. The distribution of scores during play is not considered advice.

Practice Before or During Rounds

Model Local Rule I-1.1 is in place: Rules 5.2a is modified in this way, a player must not practice on the competition course before or between rounds.

Practice putting after the completion of a hole will be permitted as long as play is not being delayed.

Player/Guardian Consent Form

The Player/Guardian Consent Form must be completed in respect of competitors under 18 years of age prior to or on the first day of the finals. This information is strictly private and confidential and is only for use in case of an emergency. Volunteers

A number of volunteers from Wales Golf and Rhuddlan Golf Club will be present at the Championship. If players are directed by volunteers, they are expected to comply.
